Thread regarding Intel Corp. layoffs

Good folks affected to.... just does not feel right

I am not affected by the current reduction, however i could see a lot of talented people (Caucasian, Indian, Chinese) have been let go.

When I see good talented folks getting walked out in the name of performance , just does not seem right. All it takes is one bad year or a manager who did not realize the employees potential.

In many cases, the employees have moved after focal and have started doing extremely well in the new group only to be walked out in the new group.

It just does not feel right....

Intel is loaded with PhDs, no matter how you reduce headcount, you will be saying good bye to Ivy leaguers.

Intel's performance review is bogus and managers try setting you up for poor review even before actual review. It is predetermined. If you are not of those kss a* and have some self respect and self esteem , despite your talent and performance you could be rated low.

I was intentionally targeted by my manager who twice refused to correct outright lies, the next level manager who refused to correct the lies, and HR who also refused to correct the lies and the appeal still active. Then, I received an ISP directly resulting from those lies with the appeal still open. All 9 reviews leading up to the last one had no IRs. Then, after the ISP I heard from others about the manager talking about " Oh, if I knew it would have caused an ISP, I wouldn't have done it the way I did". So, to me that translates into "I don't mind throwing you under the bus with lies and continual scapegoating accusations I make up to torment your soul each and every day so long as you can still keep working your assoff for me while I piss all over you". The company is comprised of CORRUPT management and deserves to be shot dead like a rabid wild boar.

All I hope is that next year the criteria does not change again. All I need is a job to feed my children. Last week I felt like an Intelite, this week I feel like an Inteless.

Replying to comment on the person who got blindsided:

Are you sure your manager did not screw you and blamed his manager? If you had gotten an IR/performance downgrade as part of the focal, your manager should have give a plan. Not sure who is the coward here (i.e.) your manager blaming his manager.

Just reading your comment, felt like your manager sweet talked and back stabbed you.

Sorry to hear your state.

While it is clear now SSL4 is the new cutoff line since last year, i.e. after BK took over, most managers are unaware of this until this Monday (or last Friday). No doubt some managers are simply mean (by giving SSL4 or 5), but some managers I know were caught by surprise when they found out people got ISP because of SSL4. Managers get limited RSU budget and they have to balance when allocating SSL after focal, they don't even know what the impact could be. Many SSL4 receivers may not be top performers, but they are definitely not underachievers, either.

Guys:

It's shouldn't be surprising that the focal is not a fair process. This past year I had biweekly 1:1's with my manager and absolutely no issues ever came up. I never had an "improvement plan" given to me during the course of the year nor anything close to a warning that my performance was suffering. The performance downgrade was a complete blindside. At my closing interview my mgr told me if it were up to just him, I would have still been working for Intel. Obviously his manager and his peers are just a bunch of cowards.

I agree. I feel the theory of moving under performers out of Intel is good. However, using focal results to make ISP decisions makes the assumption that the focal process was fair across Intel. I'm not sold on that assumption. It seems we should ensure the focal process is fair first before using its results for ISP purposes.
