Escorting you out like a criminal did not happen last year. This year I personally believe this was done to send a message to employees left behind and the message was this could happen to you if you don't perform.

I remember when a former Intel employee was laid off from another place of employment for drug use and came back threatening management with a baseball bat. You people are unstable.
I get treated like a criminal throughout this country all the time, comparing your job ending and getting walked offsite only shows how out of touch with reality you are. The corporation has to protect its current employees and assets. There have been too many instances in America's past where no one ever suspected that crazy person to come back and shoot people. No one should be given anything less than a secure walkout. Americans are entitled nutcases, true story.

I heard a rumor that this was because of some threat or such incident last time around. Even if that is true, such a process is demeaning and uncalled for and doesn't really help. So much for BK's dignity and respect BS.
When he gets fired it will be called pursuing further opportunities and there will be flashy articles on Circuit and cookies in cafeteria and of course the golden parachute. Weird how the dignity and respect goodbye works the more lethal you are to the company.

It makes sense from ceo/HR lens. That lens must say these are the people responsible for our failure. If you assume that is the worldview then those let go are unworthy and the corporate antibodies must capture contain and expelled them. It also must retain a memory of the pathogens and not allow them to invade the body again.
The employees that had SSL4/5 and were eligible for ISP knew they would be ISP'ed when the announcement came out and if they wanted to hurt Intel they could have done that before their exist. Does not make sense why they would be walked out with security this way. Last year I handed my computer to my manager and he came to the lobby where I handed my badge to security and that was it. What was wrong with that model? They just had to follow you with security, HR and your manager so everybody could see. I don't get it.
It also shows how poor the leadership in the company really is. Look at the way the layoffs were announced. It completely took employees by surprise. BK must have known this several quarters ago. It could not have been something that just popped up. Intel could have offered employees redeployment to other burgeoning areas of the company, especially the high performers. To surprise us with the sudden layoff just isn't right and shows one that mgmt was unwilling to deal with company business in a more forthcoming way. They would prefer to higher a real loser from Qualcomm than treat it's dedicated employees with dignity and respect. Krzanich is a real pr*#%!
I think the theory of why they do the "perp walk" has something to do with "security". Because they don't know for sure if an isp'd employee might "throw a tantrum" or otherwise act out, they just tar everyone with the same brush and march them out the front door. But it is outrageous and disgusting. So much for the "dignity and respect" nonsense frome the top
Atmosphere has changed, people left behind are emotionally hurt also, they lost a friend or person they considered to be family to them. No one agrees with how this years early layoffs was handled. They've got more work on their plate to handle and they lost skills from people who were walked. Business has to go on as usual, their work just piled on more, they are stressed. These people left behind won't be getting rewarded for not being affected right now, no extra bonuses for them.
The folks walked out, literally were not treated as valued individuals. More like trash being taken out. It doesn't matter your commitment or loyalty to a company, or your years put into your job, or the overtime taken away from your family and not being compensated for it. It's a business, Intel is no greater than any other corporation out there. Intel just stood out there more than the other semiconductor companies, with their logos " the Intel bunny" " the Super Bowl commercials" that stupid chime - that I just pray leaves my head.
The board members have some offshore accounts. So they don't get taxed. Feds should investigate, hmmm

Yes, it was done to send a message to the poor employees who remained. Their very existence is in jeopardy.
