Thread regarding Intel Corp. layoffs

What is clear is that this move quite visibly positions the employee experience as critical to the business, not HR. This is absolutely right, in my view, and gives practitioners the confidence and belief to know that HR is no longer a support function within the business, because the employee experience, to a large extent, is the business.

HR is only require when the leaders are to stupid to figure things out and are socially clueless even after rising to to top.

In a young start-up there is a place and need for HR. You'd think in a mature and large company like Intel that senior execs would know both technology and human aspects but you know with illustrious San Jose graduate that isn't the case so Richard gets to sit at the big table. How scary is that, LOL

HR and management watch each others' backs. It's a symbiotic relationship that allows both to control as much power as they can, at the expense of engineers. Intel used to be run by engineers, with management being a small but necessary evil. Contrast that with today, where management/HR/finance basically dictate everything and engineers are the ever-shrinking pool of "necessary evil".

Gee, I don't know why we're having so many issues winning markets that we have to lay people off. And management's solution to this is drones, BMX bikes, and all-gender bathrooms. We're doomed.

How many HR employees do you need now just to run an SQL query:

SELECT EmployeeID from Employees WHERE SSL>=4
