It feels great. I've haven't been this relaxed in decades. I've been to two other retirement celebrations and I feel sorry for the folks having to scurry back to work 15 minutes before the hour to make the next meeting. When I think back over the years I can truthfully say at least 50% were a complete waste of time. 40% spent in updating peers/management plus getting useless ARs. 10% valuable. I have two more retirement parties next week. I bet the same holds

I think those who didn't take VSP are safe for a while. And if you can pull a EE or O next year then you're golden.
But VSP was a "performance message". I don't think they'll single out the group of "2016 VSP non-takers" specifically in the future, but any upcoming layoff criteria may align very closely to people who were VSP eligible. It really comes down to the company's bottom line. The more things improve, the safer everybody is. Including VSP people.
Does anyone believe that those that chose not to accept vsp are safe. BK does say it is time to heal..and no more corporate isps.....vsp folks have more security than ever? ?

Moore's Law is dead and though intel isn' t losing money and never has their more talent at the company when compared to the competitors. The prospects for the company are actual more grim than the most dark periods of the past.
Why some may ask? Well look at the competition and where they are going compare to intel and now intel is dead.
I am happy intel forced my hand after several decades as now that I have interviewed with other companies I can see how other companies see the future and have a plan for the company that can take the employees more than intel, LOL
I took rule of 75 and VSP almost a year ago. I'm still recovering. Made serious bank, but I'm still pissed about what happened to my company.
Technically, you are an Intel employee until June 24.
OP here - I feel 100% the same way. I have no ill will for the company or for those left behind. Intel provided an excellent income and allowed me to raise my family, have great opportunities, and set me up nicely for my end days.. I'm thankful for the life Intel provided. Caveat is I worked 60+ hours a week for 30+ years and they definitely got their money's worth.
My last day is Wednesday. People think I am crazy for working until the last minute! I had items I wanted to close. I care about the people I have been working with and want things to go smoothly for them. The emotional aspect associated with leaving a place where I have spent almost half of my adult life is just now starting to creep in. I am more relaxed than I have been in a long time, yet also anxious because this is an unexpected huge change for me. I did not decide to take the ERP until the last minute. I had planned on working at least another 5 years for Intel. When I was trying to determine what I would be getting leaving_vs_staying it all came down to work environment. I may have some anxieties associated with change, but they are nothing compared to what was coming at the site I am leaving. I wish everyone the best and have no ill feelings whatsoever about the company, I made a good living and was able to provide for my children all the way through college.
