If you quit to take another job, there is an exit interview. If you are laid off, then no interview as they most likely would be very volatile. HR was directed to handle it the way they did, good or bad it was what it was. There is always a better way to handle and deal with a bad situation such as a layoff. I don't think most companies know how to handle it. All Big companies have policies and there is always room for improvement.

HR was not aware of any layoffs and were told to develop a new "hit the road t-shirt" to ease the transition from working in the building to just looking at the building.

Good luck to the HR people when OXY steps in and axes the asses you have been akissing.

APC HR - nothing left but the incompetent in that department. Hope they get a real head of HR this time and that person uses a big broom to move some dead weight out!

Good luck on the exit interview! I left after the layoffs and still didn't get one. HR doesn't care.

Why? They do not care what you have to say, and what good will it do. Also, this is a small industry and if you complain about someone it could come back to get you. I say just take it and move on to the next job. The only thing I would complain about is that I think all the perks make for soft employees, but that would make me look like an idiot, so just take the perks and enjoy. The severance package was a very generous package, and employees need to just take it and move to the next job. It still amazes me after all these layoffs over the years that employees feel tied to a company. As soon as you think like an independent contractor the better off you are. Just do a good job and keep your head down in this climate. Unless you are ready to retire working at APC is about as good as it will get.
