Saying the article is idiotic is simplistic.
It is clear that there is a common usage of the word "intel" that has nothing to do with INTC the company. If you are clearly using the word in that sense, you are not infringing.
The company Intel is attacking is clearly using the word in that sense. Going after them when you know it is not an attempt to infringe and when you know it is not going to cause confusion in anyone's mind is bullying.
This is especially true when you consider the fact that everyone using the word in that sense who has fought back has won. When you employ a legal tactic knowing that you will lose if they fight back, and knowing that the usage is probably harmless under trademark law, it is an unethical strong-arm tactic, IMO.
This article is idiotic. Under US law, you either defend your trademark or you lose it. Simple as that.
The proof is in the pudding.
If you are an investor who believes in making money, then seeking alpha probably isn't a good fit for your portfolio.
Some facts from the report:
"Intel's behavior bespeaks a level of corporate paranoia, arrogance and disdain for the reasonable rights of others that’s shameful on the best of days."
Intel "has recently morphed into corporate bullying of much smaller companies."
"Intel's behavior bespeaks a level of corporate paranoia, arrogance and disdain for the reasonable rights of others that’s shameful on the best of days."
If you're an investor who believes character matters, Intel probably isn't a good fit for your portfolio.
