Thread regarding Intel Corp. layoffs

In this kind of situation - company is threatening employees, why don't all the employees just go on strike?

Just go on strike, ask BK & Murthy to step down. Hiding behind the keyboard and complain here will not change anything. Otherwise, just keep quite, shut your mouth and wait for being hunted.

Striking is unethical. The company has all the rights to do whatever they are doing.

Sure, let's strike. You first.

There is no sense of unity within the Intel work force. We all know that Intel fosters aggressive and hostile competition amongst its IC's. This prevents a unified collaborative effort to organize a strike.

OP are you really trying to be helpful or is there something seething underneath? If it's the latter, why bother reading anything on this site? Why don't you go & unionize?

How many unions would be needed to cover all of the different types of job roles at Intel. Think about it for more than just a second...

@fbr you can argue that our current decay of the middle class started with dissolution of unions - look at what happened with Verizon strike a few days ago. they negotiated a better health plan, guaranteed 3% pay increases for next 5 years, cessation of call center offshoring plans... I am not saying let's unionize, but if the worker does not push back at some point, an ever larger part of the income will go to the execs and shareholders. That's what's happening today. So before you discount unions, think about it for a sec.

Striking is the answer. But only if the question is "what's the most brainless thing everybody could do?"

This isn't the 1800's grandpa.

You need to be organized to strike and negotiate. That is the missing piece.
