just shows what Microsoft's future is looking like. What idiots...

When explaining the deal, CEO nadella said it is "really coming together of the the professional cloud and professional network". WHAT??? How??? How is networks on LinkedIn purely built and used for career reasons will help microsoft's cloud services. Bozos..

Even if there was any such a synergy, why didn't they use outlook and outlook contacts more effectively.

I have never heard of a person getting a job from LinkedIn. I have heard of identities/IP being stolen on LinkedIn through social engineering. I hear of people getting fired for posting IP on LinkedIn. I have advised management not to hire people because of their desperation seeping into their LinkedIn profile. It seems like a wasteland for the unmarketable or desperate.

Intel has to counteract with a social network play so let's bid for myspace. 30B!

Also - glassdoor is financed by google ventures, they are technically the owners pre IPO.

@1vry has nailed it - MSFT employees will pay the price...

Keep in mind that Glassdoor is growing rapidly and they are working on a social networking component.

Linkedin is as tacky as Microsoft, spammy and clunky, a match made in heaven.

If a $17B acquisition at Intel means 12K layoffs, Basic math suggests that MS is bracing for an 18K layoffs. No magic here. LinkedIn has revenue of $3B with an operating loss. So, Mr Nadella is smoking something stronger than BK. In the end MS employees' heads will be on the pike for Mr Nadella's stretegization.

They will buy out YELP and invest in one of those hoverboard companies that have exploding batteries to counter the drone market.

Intel will buy Yahoo! for $53 billion. Yahoo!'s CEO will be put in charge of IT, Cloud Services, and HR.

LinkedIn is only for contacts you wouldn't have on facebook. Their job search engine is not as good as indeed or glassdoor.

Intel will buy chipotle.

Makes as much sense as Mcafee.

I think LinkedIn works for the ones that are already networked and their profile can be referred to by someone they know.

Intel will buy the worst company it can find, because we never are willing to pay for the market leader.

But it's all good though because we bring the acquired companies up to #1 position in the market... Oh, wait... you're saying that has never actually happened. Well this is only the 76th acquisition - it will be different this time. LOL.

I have a question about LinkedIn for the VSP/ISP folks - is LinkedIn useful in your job search? Anybody get a good lead from it?

For me it seems spammy and full of sales types that I don't know who want to connect and sell me stuff.

Waste more $$ & layoff more people? Intel's better off staying away from this.
