Thread regarding Education Management Corporation layoffs

Ai Restructure List- Updated and New Details (Layoffs hit June22nd)

Dean of Student Affairs

Associate Dean of Academics

Director of Career Services

Director of Financial Aid

Director of Student Accounting

Director of Design

Design Coordinator(s)

Director of Media Arts

Media Coordinator(s)

Director of Fashion

Director of Admissions

Full Time Faculty (Only some per campus, based on student body per department)

Academic Affairs Administrative Assistant(s) (President's Assistant stays)

Fashion will no longer be it's own department, it will roll over and be part of the Design department.

Full Time Faculty will have new contracts as well that will require a full 40 hour per week commitment on campus.

Some positions will be replaced with lower paid ones with diminished title, others are removed entirely, while some will have improved title/pay but combine multiple jobs into one.

The Layoffs DO NOT affect teach out campuses.

All day people have been led into the conference room to be let go. It's unsettling to wonder will I be next? It's sad to see your friends go but others I'm glad I won't have to deal with their nasty attitudes anymore.

Funny. I like how everyone is asking about a particular position not being eliminated at the teach out campuses, i.e. the director of Career Services. Must be asking about your own job.

This email is spreading like wild fire around the AI world ... How can we be certain what is being presented is fact instead of a one off individual just upset about previous employment? Many many people will be affected by these actions if it happens this way...

Director of Readmissions and Asst Director of Readmissions are one and the same . So would they let go of ground ADRs too?

How about the Senior Director of Admissions position and ADAs?

Why would it not affect teach out campuses? Are they going to keep the director of career services only at teach outs?

I know for a fact that Remote Readmissions does not have the bandwidth to give services to all campuses that currently have a ground Readmissions person. Also The Center/OHE in Pittsburgh was majorly impacted on the May 5th lay off, Arizona had some layoffs, so I doubt that other processes with be centralized. In the future they might but that is if EDMC survives.

What about financial aid dept there's the Director of Fa and there are FA Officers what happens to them? Will the registrar be safe?

Will there be a severance package of sorts??

I'm assuming AI ground will run like 360, and other low budget small schools. Thus meaning that ADA's,FAO's,Registrar,Accounting, career services and readmissions will operate from corporate campus via phone,Internet, printer.

I feel so bad for my friends that work at AI & especially bad for the students

You all are in denial if you think ADAs will not be affected by the layoffs.

WOW! How are full time faculty expected to be on campus for 40 hours? WE are "college instructors" because of the flexibility in our schedules. Now, not only are we paid WAY LESS that other college instructors, we are also going to be required to stay on campus longer....???? EDMC and the decision-makers are a bunch of idiots! Maybe they are requiring 40 hours per week so that all of the full time faculty will quit. Then, when the schools shut down, it will be less severance they have to pay. I am telling students to get out now!!! Go somewhere else...!

40 hours per week on campus for full time faculty. wtf. I know a lot of faculty that run businesses and do freelance. How the hell are they going to do all of that? "luckily" for me, not a worry as I've been adjunct for a while now. Just riding it until it crashes and burns.

AIO is already gone

This does not affet Aio. However that does not mean that Online does not have its own restructure in the near future, just not on the 22nd.

Any word on how this will affect AiO? Is this just ground campus specific?

No word on marketing, admissions will be losing the Director of Admissions as listed above, and the few schools that have a Re-admissions directors will lose them too.

This happens nationwide on the same day. However logistics can be odd so they are starting on the 22nd with an aim to complete nationwide by the 24th.

Will this be happening to all Ai non-teach out schools nationwide on the same day? Or separate days for each region?

Ground Director of Readmission is gone, however very few campuses have those to begin with, just a handful. No word on the remote director.
