@1vln, noone is stopping them to outsource my job now. my work is of utmost quality. I have seen mediocre work of h1bs. There are always employers who choose me over h1bs but they don't pay me enough because market rates are low. Employers are already replacing older employer with h1bs and that's against the law. H1bs should compete from their own country. We all know they can't .
1cjk- Forget pay rise, You will most probably lose your job as the job Will be outsourced once wages keep going up.
@Fdj, my lifestyle will be 10 times better once h1bs are deported. Because my salary will Appreciate at least 50% immediately.
Okay let's assume we get rid of all h1bs. Then how is it going to help exactly to let you have you lifestyle?
We sell products in other countries and it is value addition that has given us our luxurious life style compared to 3rd world countries. The 3rd world countries (people) lived poor and provided products for our daily use in exchange. USA and other western countries pushed for globalization so that they can maximize their profits- which most previous generation folks enjoyed. Now the so called 3rd world countries are beginning to produce value added products as a result of globalization. They are getting competitive and eating away our market share. Implies, that our lifestyle can't be as luxurious going forward, as not many are available to bear our palanquin. If US stops h1bs ( I.e closed job market) , the other countries will ban our products or lay heavy duties ( back to closed markets). They can live without our products, for they are used to living poor or will find alternatives sooner or later. Then we will start losing Jobs anyway. So the possible solution is that ban h1bs and Chinese goods but still be able to keep the markets in other countries. Only by extreme innovation and reasonable pricing will this be possible. Or colonize all those countries to keep the market open just like the Brits when they forced their good on other countries during industrial revolution. I don't think option 2 is possible. So we got to stick with option 1 which is tricky since the third world also realized that they have to produce better products that are cheap. How can we produce cheap products? By having lower wages-essentially downsizing our life style. Are you ready for it? If so the h1bs don't stand a chance to compete with you thanks to the clueless immigration system.

Most technical people I know are not interested in working for Intel. The word is out on Intel culture and practices. Not to mention people know you can be rated successful and then laid off. Intel has a hard road ahead of it. A road that will take years to mend. What just happened at Intel won't fix anything. The issue wasn't the employees, the issue was senior management. The very people who are still there.
Once again, the CEO and buddies has fired Americans and enslaved H1-B immigrants. In effect the 1% has managed to pit us against each other. And we fell for it. Who wins and who loses? And who's to blame? Pretty sad.

For some reason, people tend to think all Americans are lazy and dumb. I am an Asian American and I can tell you that most of my american friends don't bother applying to Intel because they know Intel's culture and hiring practices. My friends and I all graduated from top universities (Stanford, Cal, UCLA, Cornell, etc.) I've asked many of them if they wanted me to refer them into Intel whenever they've looked for new opportunities and have always said no to Intel. There reason was simple. There's too many Indians at Intel and they've been burned by their backstabbing behavior at other companies. There are Americans going into STEM they just don't want to work in Intel's environment. Don't get me wrong there are good and smart Indians but the majority of the H1B coming over now aren't as smart as the ones that came over in the 90's and early 2000's.

If so, you have to deport many Europeans, Bangladeshis, Indians, Arabians, Africans, Chinese, Australians. They all hold H1Bs...
@pbs, becoming a CEO is easy and mostly involves dirty politics while your underling do all the work for you as you move up the ladder. Creating something new is different. There were CEOs and more brilliant companies before the h1bs were imported and in those days politicians and corporations were not working g against the middle class. Even if Intel needs foreign workers to sell in foreign countries, they can do it those respective countries. They don't need to ruin the middle class here. Just because some guys become CEO doesn't mean you h1bs are good for economy. Middle class has disappeared and income inequality has grown and you are contributing to it. The us is becoming a 3rd world country everyday and things need to be changed. Deport h1bs. I have worked with them. They are big liers and will try to circumvent big aspects of the projects and will hide it from the stakeholders and teams until the project is on the brink of failure. They are too arrogant just because they get a degree certificate from American universities with the support of their parents. Americans have to work harder to succeed in their own country.
Sure ... send all H1B home and keep all the undocumented illegal immigrants who are never going to pay a dime for using the govt facilities. Atleast H1B people are paying proper taxes and following the law to certain extent ...
To all the h1bs in this thread, no one needs taxes from "skilled and competent h1b". We are willing to tax tge wealthy 10% more and train our own people. If you are so competent why don't you compete from within your own country. If you think you create money out of thin air to pay taxes in America, why not do it from within your own poorer country that could provide sanitation and drinking water, electricity for the poor?
Question: Without H1Bs or Indians, will Intel be where it is today? An Amazing company? If the answer is irrespective of H1Bs, Intel will be here today. If this is true, then deport all H1Bs.
If you deport h1bs who will pay taxes to support your food stamps? You may not get the disability from your mental handicap either
