Thread regarding Seagate Technology Inc. layoffs

September 2016 Layoffs

The way they cut, expect another round in Sept 2016.

All the highly paid going still around .....

So many directors , senior directors , executive directors and VP around !!!! Omg . So top heavy .

Once I saw the VP list , more than 70 of them around in Seagate !!!!!

The director level & VP should cut by half at least .

In my department , there is 1 D in sin, 3 SM in sin, 1 SM in Thailand , 2 SM in China. Total

6SM and 1 D for Asia Pacific . My management team manage 100% outsourced activities who is largely given to 1 key supplier . My ED strategy is to use a single supplier . Then Why do we need so many SM and even a D when my ED comes so frequently to sin ? I think in Sin , we should Cut 2 SM +1D. We are a cost Centre not profit center . My own consience speaking .

In my engineering department there are more managers in my chain than engineers. Supper top heavy company needs to be cut 50% at the top. It'll be interesting to see who is RIF'ed. If it's the non-managers it will become a worse imbalance. Imagine 5-7 managers having meetings to decide what 2-4 "producer" engineers are going to do and that's reality now. Can't imagine post RIF.

Feel for all the people facing layoffs, we are currently waiting to hear our fate as the rumours are in constant flow. I for one am looking to get out after a long period of service to look for pastures new. I echo the sentiment of most people on here where the company is too top heavy and contains too many clueless managers that lack empathy

Retrenchment fear fatigue . On and on every single quarter with no light at the end of the tunnel.

I am beyond fear now . Totally drained and beaten .

So callous to make employees leave like David Copperfield act.

Always prudent to do housekeeping. Expect the unexpected. Maybe in the future, Seagate will make the employee leave in half an hour from notification and escorted out of the premises.

Cannot one time coz got need to layoff based in this sequence .1]dislike staff - easy for mgt2] layoff like staff - start to be difficult for bosses 3] layoff Favourite - quite tough for bosses 4] layoff Super Favourite- totally tough for bosses.

June 10 is part of stage 1. July and Sept , complete with stage 1 and hopefully don't move to stage 2. If move to stage 2, they cut again part of it and cycle goes on ...,,.
