Then what's the motivation for staying?

It was over-performance!!!!
If you worked hard and accomplish a level of expertise that your company can no longer support you are out.
In hind sight I could have worked less and accomplished the same in a greater amount of time.
I will keep over-performing LOL
It had very little to do with performance.
Agree that performance was only one third. Age played a big part (Intel's dirty little secret) and pay scale. Performance (focal) was rigged so there's that element too. But you can bet the survivors and newbies WANT to believe that it was all performance related.
It was not ONLY performance based.
Several criterias..
-
Age ; and/or
-
Pay scale ; and/or
-
Performance (focal)
If it had been truly performance-based, they wouldn't have used the criteria that they used.
Ye all those who survived think that
I believe it is performance based but not low or high. I am sure most ISP people where actually ranked higher than survivors, but had more years in Intel and in grade so they got the SSL4 while newer lower ranked And lower grade employees may have gotten ssl3. And some lower ranked people may have been promos or exceeds last year so they were spared too
@HP1kU7X-qgj, well said. Buys them time to cash in the bonuses in next few yrs and they are outta there. HWY robbery.
It is pure political game, Mein Kampf (My Struggle) within the company for many VPs, just to stay where they are.
Everyday new day they stay, they steal out company's cash more and more, top $$$ USD, sweat and blood of the engineering bees, who are left alone to cope with "dog eats dog" game.
These ugly tugs in Armani's clothes and bunch of their nice worthless words are taking care ONLY about their profits/interests, nothing more and less. They do NOT care about anybody else, especially about hard working people (period)
