WTF near double diget declines. While ASP continue to be good, Samsung and TSMC will have volumes of leading edge SOC products on their leading edge silicon that ramp to higher volumes. Nothing gets process learning better than huge volmes. Today we can't even make our latest Skylake fly off the shelves. People but them when their computer breaks. The sad reality is PCS except for gamers nobody really cares much but batterlife and ARM efficiency ported from smartphone is a more elegant tradeoff than x86 on a diet from server.
Intel's strategy of one architecture top to bottom should have been discarded 10 years ago. We made so much money that management was so blind to the opportunity.
Intel was so wealthy years ago, it could have afforded many moonshots, instead we got Itanium, Tejas, Larabee and so many other stupid wasteful projects that no real talent at this company will do anything but the core x86. Not that we are undersiege we go at IoT with x86 and memory, and modems/5G. What stupidity is that!
Where or where are the real smart and intelligent leaders. Perhaps they are all at other companies breaking ahead!
