I am an RCG in Intel since 3 months. I got an ISP due to project redundancies. I am planning to submit an appeal request. I didn't even go through a single focal review. What are the downsides/ impacts of appealing? I am looking for jobs in other groups as well. Will there be any affect..?any idea

The downside is the ulcer you'll develop waiting for your appeal and having to keep working at what's become a miserable environment. I had a good case to appeal my ISP. But why would I? My old team is decimated by ISP/VSP and I get at least one or two IMs or emails a week saying how much it sucks. Mgrs. keep hammering on people to do projects even though there's barely enough to keep things running. Some of the guys are on call every other week. No time to do cool projects so they're all worried they'll get slammed in focal and thus ISPed. Possibly with a lesser package. Damn I'm glad they terminated me.
Take the money and find a better position outside intel
It's going to get brutal as Intel has cash flow problem( check the analysts reports) and needs to be at 70,000 employees

Just appeal and see if you can get your job back or any other position just in case, because i don't think you even qualify for unemployment with just 3 mos. But in the meantime aggresively look for a job in another company which has better future prospects, unfortunately intel seems to be a sinking ship. Since you are an rcg and layoff reason is not performance, it shouldn't be too hard for you to land a new job. And for the rest of your career don't forget this experience and always keep your skills sharp. No company is your guardian. They just see the workforce as a commodity which can be bought and disposed of depending on the market conditions.

OP: I agree with others. Take the money & find another company, one that has actual growth. Things looks like it will only get worse from here on out.
Take the money and run, find a decent job. Intel's long-term outlook is failure. Find a company that values you from the get go.

Don't be stupid, take the package and find a company that doesn't suck to work for. The only reason to stay at Intel is if you are diversity candidate, then you can get paid to be worthless.

This is what I fear year 2 of an annual cycle. Not worth the stress. Start your career somewhere growing and consider Intel a rest stop after school.
While you can appeal consider lots of things.
Is your degree and visa status lead to limitations? If not get off the Titanic!
Intel isn't the best paying and currently the prospects for the company is poor to terrible.
As a RCG you won't have any explaining to do when you look for a new job. GET OUT NOW WITH SOME $$$$ LOL
If you are a plump, juicy and good looking female you should have no problem; Intel still need a lot of those. :)
There's no impact. Appeal. Intel has openings that need to be filled.
