What's going on with this Fab? I hear lots of techs and engineers are being kicked out. Rumor is that Demo crew is gearing up.

CS operations has been gutted. No direction from management. Just silence. IMR lab is leaving, IT non-essential to output is leaving. There is nothing left beyond current commits.
It will close or be sold to Samsung.
That's my .02 from what I'm seeing. I'm VSP'd outta there.
@hv1 how can that we true at the same time? A boat anchor to Intel (who has full depreciated it) but worth millions to someone else? Please explain more.
This site is a noose around intels neck and is not worth keeping. But the building itself and the infrastructure around it and supporting it are worth millions to any company willing to take a chance. Intel will leave New Mexico. But someone else will come in.
@oqr: NOBODY in NM thinks they are safe. Most are holding on with hopes of moving to AZ or OR when the time comes.
Anyone in NM that thinks they are "safe" because Intel has contract commitments that will keep starts in f11x is kidding themselves. Once the starts are low enough, they will figure out how to move them to AZ or OR. The plans are already in the works.

Totally agree with you @onv. Should have done reductions based on neeed skills most definitely. F11X is hurting big time. And it would have been easy to do it that way as most groups are keeping up to date on their skills matrix for their teams.
F11x Was Never The pinnacle if manufacturing. Andy Grove himself said it eats like an elephant and p--ps like a butterfly.
Many non fab personal were either layed off or offered relocation to Arizona two weeks ago. Training department people were targetted this week. This site is going to be closed or sold. Sooner rather than later. Look for it to happen before the year is out.

I am sure part of restructuring will be placing some people on temp assignments at 11X. F11X sadly once the pinnacle of intel manufacturing in the old golden days, but like Intel itself the golden days are gone and like the tumble weeks just will soon be blowing across the desert
They are going to turn it into a high volume hatch chile farm production facility.
