OP, I was a Chevron employee for 28 years and retired about 4 years ago. I was during my employment years, a silent partner in a well established valve and instruments company here in Houston. My father and uncle were the principal owners, but my brother and I were also financial owners. No, I did not disclose this fact to Chevron, since I personally did not work in the business. I just owned just under 20%. I knew if I disclosed this to Chevron, it would deprive our company from doing business with Chevron. I won't say here how much business we did with Chevron, but our company was an approved vendor. I did have a little influence in getting some business tossed our way, but it was competitive and not to the detriment of Chevron. Since we did fair business, I never declared this as a conflict of interest.
