Need more perspective. What are the chances of SLB rehiring laid off people? Need Honest opinions here. I am dad of three kids and the only bread winner. i am doing work that pays me 50% of what i was paid. I would go back. When will things pick back up? Can i call my manager and ask. Will SLB call you back? I was laid off April 2016. I made 6 figure salary with a 20% Target Bonus

I thought this topic was thoroughly covered during your last posting?? If you're asking if you'll be hired back anytime soon, no. You're chances of being hired back at all are also slim. Like has been already said in this post and your last, the market is still unstable and lower than what it was predicted to be at this time. This is also not even including the fact that many divisions are still laying people off. Add all of this up and it's not too bright for those who were given their walking papers. Still beating a dead horse but when we finally do get stable, companies aren't going to be blowing up the phone lines to hire highly compensated past employees back. It just wouldn't be a good financial move. Also, don't call your boss either. Sounding desperate would be the nail in the coffin of you ever getting your job back. If it's eating you up that bad, drop them an email to say "hey" and let that be the end of it. If they want to hire you back, they will and won't need you reminding them.
By all means continue to visit with your old Manager. Some of them will keep a look out for you if something comes up. Others will not, they are only hanging on to save their own assas the two I dealt with chose to follow. Also, network with the other Service Co.'s. When things pick up and that could be 18-30 months from now, possible you'll have phone calls rolling in. In the mean time, start mowing lawns and get the kids helping you. Time for them to earn their roof and skittles for lunch...
Will they hire you back? That depends on what your skills are, how specialized they are and if they are needed. If they can train someone else to do your job in a year or two at a lower pay then it's unlikely that they will want to rehire you. If things pick up in a hurry and they need people fast then they probably would rehire you.
You have to look at the oil market and make your own determination but I don't see a bright future ahead. Inventories are still very high, demand isn't growing much despite low prices, the world is getting more energy efficient, climate change treaties that would limit the use of fossil fuels are one day going to be a reality. On the positive side, low oil prices are starting to destabilize some producing countries leading to production cuts, Americans are trending back to large cars, and the decline in investment will lead to further production drops.
The only thing that is 100% certain is that time waits for no man. Make the most of every day that you have
What was your job? When market rebounds they will only be looking to call back those who generate revenue.
40k is consider a single life with no kids. Add a family and 3 kids, might need to do 2 full time jobs and a part time on weekends. Better to contact the cartels lol. jk :)
I think it is highly unlikely they would hire you back right now. I would wait on calling your manager.
Oh for God's sake pick up a newspaper and watch the market, read the news from OPEC, make your own guess. Your guess is as good as anyone else's. Learn to live on what you make now and be thankful for it.
Spring 2017 you might check around if rig count is adding. Families with three kids survive with $40k a year too. Deal with it.
