I know a bunch of people that work (worked) in training in Oregon. What about them? Many of them were let go.

Just a question. If there is no training dept, does that mean I don't have to go to my Micro Inequities class? Maybe there is a silver lining....
When the whole point of their existence is to justify the existence of the upper echelons of management through brainwashing everyone with: "We are Intel."
The 1% has done a good job of brainwashing Intelians to also becomes reptilians pitting at each other's throats!
IMO training department is very important to IINTEL .especially when managers go for week long useless trainings , the engineers are left alone to do productive work. Our calendars are no more occupied with update meetings, sync meetings, staff meetings, focus team meetings. And instead of the meeting ARs , engr are free to work on delivering quality products to the customers in a timely manner.
So training department in Intel is important for business success.
No one could even point me to the training dept in Oregon, that's how visible and crucial their job is. No one knows who they are. Must be top secret.
@uxh lol. Also true. They also tweak on-line yearly required training to justify their existence.
