CVX stock down $1.38 at 2:15 this afternoon.

So the Dividend supports those just laid off. The dividend is good for the people who are a victim of the economic downturn , the drop in the price per bbl and it is a sign that Chevron is honorable and being compassionate to it's shareholders. the majority of which - by number- are former employees. That's a good attitude and strategy to have. After all, many of us know - former employees often are re-hired as contractors at a very good rate for both parties at a later date. CVX needs these exceptional people available just in case. They don't want to burn bridges anymore than anyone.
That's interesting. A few of the butthurt deadwood dick-wads on this site are cursing CVX for holding the dividend so sacred. I supposed those are the same people who would not like working anywhere, always hate their supervisor, try to figure out how to sue whomever, like back-stabbing scoundrels simply just don't like work, and need to be cut as quickly as possible. I have worked with those types.
Chevron is doing what needs to be done. Taking out the trash.
From those of us forced into early retirement, Watson needs to protect the dividend. The more layoffs this fall the better. Chevron needs to keep paying the dividend to support those just laid off this past fall and sprint ROMs.
In PRC. My boss confirmed today that the fall PDC, supposedly a " normal " PDC, was left open option for another ROM , if needed. So expect that with a boatload of. Folks coming off Gorgon, Wheatstone, ALNG and MafSul. Not enough projects
