Thread regarding Intel Corp. layoffs

What are you folks going to do with your investments, depending on who ends up being president?

I'm just curious if any of you have given much thought as to altering any of your investment plans, given who ends up winning the Presidency. I'm in my early 40ies, and I've been lucky to have my investments work out well, so I have about $1million in my 401k+Rollover IRA and about $1million in after tax accounts from previous employer's vested stock options....Both accounts are well diversified among stock (with the 6 quadrants of large/mid/small cap growth and values),bonds, cash, international.

I'm thinking that:

  1. If Hillary wins, stay the course do nothing different. I don't think much will be different with Hillary in the White House

  2. If Trump wins, sell 70% my domestic and international stock holding, and go into cash the first 2 years to see what happens. I figure, that Trump will probably be a disaster when it comes to the economy and foreign trade, and we'll get into a trade war, which no one ends up winning...

3 If Bernie wins, sell 90% of everything in an after tax account, and move everything into gold and/or platinum physical bullion and move it to another country like Canada...It's unlikely Bernie will be able to change the tax rate in 2016, so when you sell stock/bonds/etc, that will be the old tax rate. And by moving things into gold/platinum bullion, it's almost impossible to tax because there is no easy why to figure out how much gold/platinum bullion you have or how much you paid buying it.

Buy puts on what you can. Its how some telecom engineers survived the 2000 telecom bust that ended their careers. When Mark Cuban sold broadcast.com for Yahoo stock he immediately bought puts and was able to keep it all compared to the Yahoo employees.

Invest in Gold, but don't wait. Check out the trends for the past 5 years. Do the research on:

GOLDX (Gabelli Gold)

GDX

TAHO

USERX

FKRCX

If you want until the election results you will miss the trend over the next 4 - 6 months.

Don't change anything. Just rebalance if it's worth it. When investing do it for the long term.

It won't matter who is elected. We are in the mother of all bubbles - the global debt bubble. The stock market is heading for a major correction and there is nothing that can stop it. Take a look at the flattening bond yield curve and compare it to what it was even 5 years ago. As it flattens out, likely when they try and raise interests rates, it will eventually invert. A major plunge will ensue and you would be wise to protect yourself by having physical assets.

It's unlikely anything about the tax rate would ever change with Bernie since congress likely will not cooperate.

I would keep more in cash initially with whomever is president.. we are overdue for a recession and a market correction... but hey... you are the bright one posting your net worth in a chat room

For example: since Bernie would essentially rob us savers, it would be good to fly under the radar by purchasing these 1kg gold bars
