Calculation of Separation Pay and SABB Payout

Called HR and this is how they calculated the pays:

Separation: (Base + APB) / 260 (#of working days in a year) * 5 = Weekly pay

Weekly Pay * 6 = 6 weeks separation pay you received

SAAB payout is calculated the same way, except they do not include APB

Do not look at your regular bi-weekly pay stub to determine your weekly pay for the above. Regular pays are calculated differently: Regular bi-weekly pay = Base/24.

If you also received a smaller check, it is the SPP refund since Feb 19. In the SPP pay stub you see some amount remaining in the "A Stock Period-to-Date". This is what you contributed beginning of the year until Feb 19, when SPPs were purchased. So, you own stocks for that amount.

@rtrw: no geo for AZ. Another post said there is for CA. Don't know for OR.

Does anyone know if they added the geo differential while calculating the separation weekly pay?

APB is your target. It is included in the pay letter that you get after focal reviews each year.

For CA do they also added the geo differential? (Base+geo+apb)/260*5=weekly pay?

What's the number to call to ask about the VSP payout? Mine is definitely way under what I should have gotten. Any help would be appreciated.

How do I determine my ABP from the older paychecks?

Thank you OP, I called HR today and they couldn't figure this out, but your calculation matches exactly what I see. I wasn't expecting the APB portion.

anyone done the math to see if they withheld taxes from the "seperation" pay (6 weeks) the same as a normal check or did they do it like a bonus check?

As far as the HR person informed me, yes the weekly pay is calculated using the (net pay+apb)/52 "even" for the severance pay. I guess we will find out when I see the final paystub.

You can also ask HR for a paystub. I have gotten all of mine since April 15th.

Incidentally ,they are still deducting SPP contributions!

Thank you for the clarification, saved me time from calling HR. Do you know if the variable separation pay is calculated using the same formula? (base + apb)/260

SABB Payout is either 4 or 8 weeks of sabbatical, if you were eligible.

OP: I should have mentioned I am in AZ, so geo may not be relevant to my pay. Yes, the original paperwork they gave says 8 weeks, but it is really 6 weeks. You still get the additional 2 weeks, but after signing the papers.

Hm. Interesting. Based on payout calculator they do (base * geo + apb) * 2 months for termination payment. This formula is written in docs.
