@HHq5OUI-pqb In Asia like Singapore, severance pay is 4 weeks for a year of service too
STST - Springrown?
What/where is STST and why is the package do much more than the typical US package of two weeks per year up to 50?
STST are getting 4 weeks for every year plus shift up to a maximum of 78 weeks
Former Friends and C0-workers at Seagate. As I read through these posts about the stress and heartbreak of being “Laid-off”, be advised, there is absolutely nothing you can do about it so stop worrying yourself into a hospital bed or worse, it’s not worth it.
Advice, get your resume up to dated, get connected/updated on LinkedIn, make everyday a networking day, that way if they give you the big tap on the shoulder, you’re ready, if you make it past all the BS you’ll be ready for the next round.
And last, don’t start sucking up to your Managers or rat-ing out your fellow employees, the “HR” people,
they will never be your “Friend” they are there solely to protect the Company, they could care less about who you are, what you have to say or how sick you or your Family members are.
Nothing is forever, there is life after Seagate, I can attest. Ever since I was excessed, my world changed and I could not be happier, my health has returned, my zest to living has never been better.
Good Luck to you all….if you do get the tap, take all the money they give you and go the extra mile and ask for more..
If you are over 55 it's really hard to find a job as people are reluctant to hire older folks - I am in this position, have been looking for a while
I reckon those who got literally sick from the possibility of layoff, finds something and leaves. If you are waiting for a huge once-in-a-lifetime package, fair enough. However, fact of the matter remains that anyone who escapes the axe this round cannot be sure the same for next. Do a favor for yourself and your family, if I would you.
They aren't holding any of you captive. This country does have other jobs.
For the guy with a sick wife, I feel for you man. That's a hard one since you're really banking on the health insurance. I'd highly recommend looking for another job. Your wife is already sick, you don't need the stress of losing your job hanging over you all the time.
For me, plans are set to leave. Don't care if I stay or go right away. I love the job here but I'll use whatever runway I'm given to get off the ground on other things.
You pussies are why the company sucks. Get some balls, ask your manager how you can help and lets get things back on track. If you dont have the stomach for it quit. toodoolooo motherfuckers im out
+1 - it's horrible, from the mental health perspective. i hope all is over soon.
I swear I'm going to get ulcers working here. Will leave as soon as I can find something else. Till than I'll just suck it up.
Constant tension headaches and blurry vision. Single income, three kids, sick wife, this mess is the last thing I need in my life right now
Why not just find other jobs? It's not good to stay at a company that will be half its size in two years.
I also am not sleeping and stomach is a wreck!!
I'm sorry to hear about your situation. I'm a nervous wreck as well. Not being able to sleep or eat. I wish they just peel the band aid off and do the layoff already.
