5.5 years with Intel...3 different managers, the last one was a nigthmare who set me up and was gone with me with ISP. You have to admit though that the separation package is world class. In my case:
15 weeks of total severance
4 weeks of sab/vacation pay
$9000 check for Cobra 6 month option
6 month of 100% Intel paid of medical/dental/vision
The HR personnel has been very professional, kind, empathetic throughout this process. I was very impressed. Good luck to all affected.

i agree with OP. While the situation sucked and karma will come around and get those responsible, the package is not bad. Besides, what are you going to do... harbor this hatred and resentment forever? the ship is sinking for sure and i hope the managers will get what they deserve, but dammit you get knocked down just get the f*ck up. sh-- happens in life, f--- it and and move on. there are better things to worry about in life.
I work in a new company now. After 10 yr service they give you one week per yr= 2.5 months. so Intel pkg is good and hopefully you find a job soon. I think below 10 yrs is ZERO
remember the difference between being laid off and being fired! ppl are being marked by this ISP, which implicitly saying you are bad! Do you accept that? Beside, you (OP) invested your 5.5 yrs in your career, do you see yourself aligned with peers outside intel? if your answer is "yes", then I am shutting off...
I am the op...I am not thankful for what my manager did to me. What is done is done. I believe in Karma (and sure enough he was the first one to go in my area). I am thankful of what Intel did for a package. Most companies give you 4-6 weeks. That is it.
I have never been laid off before, but if you are going to get it, it is good to have such a package. Folks, unemployment is 6%, not 10%. If you can not find a job in 3-4 months...do I have to say it?
