Did any ISP from Intel [2015 or 2016] apply for unemployment benefits in Texas.
Have the following questions?
Are ISPs eligible for Unemployment benefits. Under the conditions for eligibility it says either Laid off ( not related to performance), Fired, Reduced work hours or Quit( Valid reasons).
which one should we select when we apply, even though ISPs are performance related ( That's what the management says).

File now. I filed unemployment in AZ decades ago. There is one week where you don't get paid. To be clear after filing the first week is not paid. If they deny you appeal and get a lawyer if necessary. I know ISP who was successful. if this is the new failure you are in good company. Everyone I know who was selected i would hire in a heart beat. those who remain are status quo. wonder which camp i'm in???
Yes just say you were laid off.. Never select the fired option. They will verify your eligibility through employer that you were impacted with this massive layoffs. Performance in ISP is mot an issue to get these benefits.
You are eligible to apply after your official last date which is usually may 30 for ISPs. Should noy have this misconception that you have to wait until your severance package ends. Another misconception is that only citizens can apply. Truth is anyone who paid taxes in state can apply. So f1 opt, h1bs, free card holders, citizens all can apply unemp benefits.
Say that you were laid off and apply for unemployment benefits immediately. They will determine your eligibility.
I'm not sure this is the type of severance where you'd have to wait until the severance runs out. I'm expecting to get benefits immediately after my last day.
I believe yes, filing for unemployment benefits is possible. The better question is when?, you should not get any $$$ until the severance package runs out. So if somebody gets 35 weeks in the variable separation, should that person file now? or wait 35 weeks and if still unemployed then file?. My fear with filing now is having to go online every week (for 35 weeks) and fill out the form that says we still have not found another job and this is what i did this week to try to find one, eventhough we would not be getting anything.
In Oregon ISPs are all eligible. May be same in Texas.
