My dad was an Aerospace Engineer for 25 years. He worked for Hughes Aircraft, TRW, Northrop, Lockeed, Martin Marietta....He tells me that he was very unlucky. Unlike his peers, he was never laid off. His friends and peers were all laid off very early in their careers...many times....
I thought this was very interesting because I said he should be thankful he wasn't unlucky like his peers who were laid off so many times. He turns to me and says, "son, the lucky ones are the ones that went through layoffs early on in their career and realized that working as a W2 engineer slave sucks and that when you lose your job early on in your career, your realize this is bullshit and you end up finding something else to do that ends up being better than if you stayed a salary slave for 25 years, wondering if you're going to be replaced by cheaper workers next, or if you have to beg for your next job"..
I didn't listen to him... Big mistake...Kids often repeat the same mistake their parents make.
