It must be very hard to get promotion once you are Principal Engineer. Any PE who got SSL3 in focal? Are non PE's usually picked up for being SSL3 candidate?

The variability in accomplishment, experience and expertise of PE's that I've met at Intel is immense.
Some are clueless and useless at much other than Powerpoint and as*-licking (and usually quite arrogant), while others are truly world experts (albeit usually in some arcane Intel-specific discipline).
Because my manager never really explained what an Intel PE is, I assumed that it was the professional engineering license (obtained externally through an exam after first passing the EIT exam and having professional experience: http://www.nspe.org/resources/licensure/what-pe).
Little did I know it was some Intel internal BS until I asked my manager about wanting to take the PE exam and told her that I had already passed the EIT exam prior to coming to Intel and was coming up on the experience requirement for taking the PE exam. My mind was blown when she: 1) Discouraged me from pursuing the "real" PE and the Intel one and 2) Told me who in our group was being groomed (really?! that guy!).
Just bizarro Intel world...
I know of a useless good for nothing guy became PE in 2014 just because he was very old in Intel and was a buddy to the director of that team. It just matters how good you are at licking your managements assto become a PE here. On contrary lateral senior employees hired from outside Intel to a PE position are really of great caliber and potential but they are getting ruined fixing this sh-- hole now.
I would say 70% of PEs are political figures and only 30% are really distinguished engineers prividing technical leadership.
I know a PE who has no technical accomplishment (zero publication or patent) and manages a small team that have little impact on intel business. He has been with intel for a long time and is still there. Talk about politics and social IQ. He is my idol!
PEs were ISPed, VSPed and ERPed.
It is obvious the company wants to destroy the Intel culture as it is seen as a main obstacle to change.
I can't tell if top management is wrong but the disrespect related to the process is unbelievable.
At which site was that? I believe other companies would be very happy if they join them.
