Since we can never return to working at Intel, do most of you just simply throw away those Intel project/team shirts and award plaques that you have received?

Why giving away? Don't you have cars, motorcycles, bicycles or so? Old T-Shirts are perfect for motor maintenance.
Most of the recognition carry zero value outside of Intel except IAA. Throw them. I see most employees dumping them.
Awards never made sense. As a second year rcg in 2006, I saw a department recognition person being let go within 2 months of being awarded. I immediately understood..and have never worked/asked for a plaque..a 10 dollar nomination.or what have you...most recently people were let go..and an email came..they were being recognized for department ..so keep few very personal ones and chuck the rest or send to BK or Richard Taylor as your silent protest.
I threw my stuff away the night I was told I was being redeployed. Grabbed a big trash can and in it went. That was 2009. I'm affected by this round because the spouse is taking ERP. There are other companies, other opportunities. Intel stopped being THE place to work after the dot com burst.
TWWW is happening at my site, so we have the "dump your junk" bins. As I passed one, a great idea hit me. Grab all the junk awards you can, put them up on your mantle at home, and pose for your new LinkedIn photo.
Sorry for my typo: I want to see Intel succeed. I feel loyalty to Intel. I don't give a sh-- to whatever the VPs said and done. If my VSP turns into ISP i will have to move on.
I will keep my stuff but give it to my family because all that was earned before BK came. I appreciate Intel and work there for Andy, Rob and Gordon who inspire me. I want to see Ibtel succeed for what they created.
Gave my dozens of unworn tee- and polo shirts to a homeless guy I see at an off-ramp. I figured he and his buddies could use them and I like the thought of the advertising impressions. Kept my individual and small team awards as I think I will appreciate the effort behind them once the dust settles.
All the t-shirts are used as wheel bearing grease rags. Toss in outside trash after use.
As for the plaques. The old ones with a wafer mounted are worth good money on eBay. There are a number of collectors and researchers who are interested in the older silicon tech.
We used to get lot's of keychains with a chip inside. Those also are worth quite a bit on eBay.
Oh, and response to post about managers resenting performance. I encountered this on a number of occasions. I spent massive hours inventing tools/parts/etc that were implemented across the virtual fab. Only to get slammed by my so called "manager". This was 2007. I changed my tactic and quit inventing things for Intel back in 2007.
From now on I would prefer cash awards
Everything else is garbage once I get the boot
There's no way I can make it to retirement at Intel the way it's going
Sell on eBay.
Hiring tip: Put the awards in a cardboard box and take them with you to interviews.
I will keep mine as they were given to me when i had a good manager who was a good leader. I now have a new manager / boss recently and i have none through him. I would keep patent plaques as it is your hard work. Who cares if Intel ISPed. We work for ourselves and add into our skill sets. The corporate name does not matter to me. I can't believe you got ISP given your awards. This truely shows marketing issues. They should get ISP.
Clothes used as cloth to polish my glass artwork; cotton t shirts are great for this. I still have Intel t shirt from 10 years ago for this purpose
Plaques; if they are glass, I can re-use for artwork if the glass is not tempered.
You will find some plaques left as art alongside the South Bay Trail here in Bellingham Washington.
My magnetic cube name tags are left on the railing of the South Bay Trail causway that goes over the water in Fairhaven, Washington. As they weather, they will fall off the rail and into the water.

Clothes always go directly to goodwill. Plaques and awards have gone to the the trash since SET. SET was a great lesson. Clean cube since 2007. Nothing I can't walk away or escorted from. Trash bins were just full of stuff after set. It was quite eye opening.
"Dump your junk bins" need to be placed in hallways ASAP. During SET these things overflowed with plaques and awards. It's time again.
I left behind a cupboard full of plaques, recognitions, patents etc.
Took away one plexiglass cube containing a chip I've contributed a substential amout of thought and hard work to.

The same scenario for me, although I was only with intel for less than two years. The only sense one can make of it is that you were targeted by your manager FOR your success and recognition. The thin-skinned and resentful can't stand to see other get recognition. That's how toxic Intel is and how dysfunctional the "leaders" placed above us have become.
All Intel swag got sh$tcanned weeks ago.
Throw them away unless one of them is close to your heart.
Threw my plaques, patents, clock awards, jackets( lot of them and some very nice ) and all the t-shirt, threw them away just like intel did with me. I actually have a shirt with 386sx on it they gave to me from a college recruiting 20+ years ago, moved on as no Moore as it is dead.

Shirts are good for rags in the shop. Plaques are for the round file. I did keep some special awards that meant something to me (the team I managed nominating me for the award). Ironically I got the most awards the year I was fired. Don't try to make sense of it - you never will. 2 years and still largely a mystery why I was left without a seat in Intel musical jobs. :) But life outside the big house is MUCH BETTER!
