Getting rid of Directors

Are Directors immune from ERP, VSP, ISP ?

Someone will have to get rid of them. There are too many of them around.

As many as managers.

Make ERP of Director/VP into a ISP.

Bring some fresh blood and ideas at the senior level. We at Intel can not get different & improved results, doing what we have always done.

Most of these guys have offer of ERP on the table. Most of them are not going to take it. As someone said below, they will not go away on their own.

Re: the large number of promotions to VP in 2013 - this was because Intel found it difficult to recruit external candidates who were focused on the "job title." So they essentially decided to losses the restrictions and make more people VP's. If you have ever worked in a bank setting, everyone is a Vice President of something. My dad was - when i saw his business card I was shocked because i don't think he even had direct reports, and he was basically just a program manager and coder.

Re: directors being affected by ERP, yes, anyone eligible was given ERP. I know of 1 director at least who is taking it.

Directors/VPs are fighting over to justify their existence to BK/Murthy by associating their group to key projects and/or customers.

Oh, HR, you are so naive. The employee told the director: His response: "File an open door". I myself told the director. Other employees and managers were aware.

The guy is the director's BFF in the group. He just got more responsibilities; so did the woman employee.

It's the emperor with no clothes on. Get a clue!

To the poster talking about sexual harrassment known by the director. All that employee has to do is go to HR. Director level people can be held accountable, both personally and professionally in lawsuits. They are not protected by the company, so if they violate HR laws and are proven to have neglected a responsibility, the company can actually go after them too. If that is really going on HR MUST respond with an investigation, and they will.

With limited resources available since ACT, our Director will assign everyone extra tasks and responsibilities .. you take this.. you take that load .. you will be work on that program. Everyone else must do more work EXCEPT HIMSELF.

WHAT DOES HE DO ON DAILY BASIS besides ALL TALK ?

These so call directors/low level VPs are making $300k+ in compensation for what?

No wonder Intel is going down the drain and it does not take an MBA to see the ROI is not there.

The director in my group has turned a blind eye to an employee inappropriately touching a female employee by squeezing her butt. This is a clear violation of the code of conduct. In fact, the man was just given more responsibilities. This is the Intel way.

Intel will get rid of all the workers with only Directors and VPs remaining. That's really good strategy, Brian K.

Moving Diane Bryant to VP was obvious protection.

Why now at time of ACT of all other times ?

Publicizing her promotion all over Intel Circuit and news while people were being shown exit.

There were also some VPs hired from outside in the last one year. Lisa Davis. Alison Cerra etc.

Agree there are way too many VPs. And agree VPs are much harder to lay off. There is something squirrelly about the large number of promotions to VP in 2013, Did someone smell something coming and wanted to protect a group of people?

no wonder the managers keep hiring non stop, the more people under them the higher the chance for them to be VPs, when they reach VP status, it's difficult to lay them off. Meanwhile things goes wrong, we the regular employees get booted out first.

Executives get forced out but a little different. Once you reach that status, you get to save your reputation when getting pushed out the door. Like the " I'm leaving to pursue my wildest dreams" type exits. A director usually isn't leaving because they want to.

How much is Intel wasting in REGULAR AND FREQUENT travel expenses for these Directors

... A Director only needs excuse of 'business trip' to get away from their families for the week ?

What business is it that they can not discuss remotely ?

All my director does is travel every week to various team locations, have 1:1 talks, talks in meetings. No deliverables, no work to be completed.

Didn't they promote a large number of folks to vp position in 2012 or 2013? What was the reasoning?

Demote VPs to where they should be - at Director level - and get rid of Directors that serve no function nor add value in any Intel organization.

Ya.. What exactly do they 'direct'? The don't have P&L. They don't have real business strategy to formulate beside strategising about how to compress the engineers cubicles
