Thread regarding Intel Corp. layoffs

Next round of cuts to include ssl3 as Intel is not close to the 12k cuts

Heard from an excellent source that next round of layoffs will include ssl3 and will depend on BU and length of service in a given job grade.

@HBQ9PgY-dus - most people in the greater Portland area (some 90%) are white. So if there are reductions in staff in RA, then of course you'll see mostly white people. It's simple statistics.

It would make sense because the next cuts are efficiency and project based irrespective of anyone's performance. If you are in a group getting restructured or cut, you are at risk.

Touching on VSP as an SSL2 should be a dream case... take the money and run !

Most folks being laid off at Ronler are late 40's and above. Lot of white people too, not all, most.

I am @yjg. I saw this is FM. Old men and women, young men and women, various nationalities, with and without vsp, long service at Intel and people who joined last year or in 2014, people who doing the heavy lifting for the upcoming project, technicians, engineers, you name a category and there was a person who could fit that.

When they start paying retention bonuses to keep people in the company, you'll know that cuts are done this time around. Before that happens, it'll be a rough ride. Perf based layoffs continue on quarterly basis, though.

People with no VSP also got notice on Wednesday in MVE. It was difficult to find any pattern..!!

OP: SSL3 & length of time in grade is already criteria for VSP & VSP were the only ones that received the "stern" letter that if they didn't take it, VSP would turn to ISP with lesser severance package. This was already in the Oregonian on May 10th, so old news.

"First level 4 in two decades, and the apology from my boss was "so sorry, did not think they would use that". Really.... "

And to think we're paying consultants at Bain millions of dollars for such stupidity.

I heard they may reach SSL2 as well, from an excellent source.

20+ years for me, had another 15 or more in me, work 60+ hours a week, weekends, vacations. Delayed my sabatical for two years, didn't take all my vacation each year for the last decade either, project was an important initiative, dang even the current one was to.

First level 4 in two decades, and the apology from my boss was "so sorry, did not think they would use that". Really.... I do feel sorry for the many others that will be gone just as unfairly and unjust. I hope for my many good and life long friends still there this will help intel become stronger, but why do I feel like it won't.

It's been a rough few weeks but sooner you pull the bandage off the better.

It is most certain more good workers will go for no more just reason that BK needs to show benchmark worthy numbers as he gets ready to carve the company in two and gets measured by wallstreet. Wish for the days of Andy, and the old really brilliant and bold leaders of old, but for those going or about to go willing or unwilling, there are a lot of brilliant and smarter companies doing better. After all that is why intel and the leaders were forced to such stupidness

What else can they do? If you blow out all the 4s and 5s, all you will have left is 3s. Then what? Then 3s are the new 4s and you'll be gone. Then what? Then 2s become the new 4s.

Great job dic---ad Taylor

That number, if applied blindly with a bain counter formula, will be very large. They will have to very careful about what they are wishing for. In that case BU owners and FLMs will have a big say on who gets served.

If this is indeed the case, it would confirm the underlying suspicion that unaccepted VSPs will convert to ISPs soon. BU dependent translates to those orgs under Murthy will feel the ax swing much heavier.
