My understanding is that UPS has been performing desktop delivery for Staples for several years...Washington DC and, I think, the Florida market (not sure if they are doing desktop in the entire state).
I heard from a few of my FC contacts that they are beginning to see some FedEx ground (not LTL) cartons being shipped out of their respective FC's. Not a lot of packages so far but definitely something new for the FC's. Are the FC's being tasked with sorting cartons to, and keeping track of, yet another carrier? Is FedEx going to be doing desktop deliveries, too?!
UPS will absolutely do desktop... ask Al Stacey and Tom Loranger of UPS... they have their own little office right there on 5 east ... UPS is negotiating as we speak with Staples on doing their desktop deliveries... have to do something to grow and keep revenues high at UPS. Kidding yourself to not think they won't do it...

UPS, FedEx, etc are currently doing desktop deliveries at University of North Carolina. I see a driver everyday.

Silva, would that be Derek Silva, he is an idiot. Does he realize that UPS will not deliver on any of its promises, as they are just a huge run away giant that does what it wants. LL Bean dropped them years ago because they where screwing up all of the deliveries. They make no contribution to anyone or help for that fact. I can hear the sucking noise of Staples and Silva going down the drain.
I can tell you corporate is working with UPS on doing desktop deliveries so they can close all SDOs.... I am on floor 5 East near everyone including the UPS office... This is Silva's big plan!!!!! UPS will be starting to take the courier network deliveries shortly after... they want UPS to have EVERYTHING!!!

Well, I guess we will find out when it happens. I am no longer with Staples and I wish those who lose their jobs good luck.
