Has it ever been this bad in the past? I joined last year so I have no reference points. The morale of my group has reached the absolute ugly bottom.

It was worse in 2009.
Worked at Seagate over 18 years. Was great in the Control Data/early Seagate years. But after 2000, it was clear that, for those at the top, money meant everything and appreciation of years of loyal service and achievement meant nothing. I'm at a company now that appreciates my contributions. The best part of my layoff from Seagate? Simple: I cannot be laid off by Seagate. Good riddance.
20 years, a bunch of layoffs, this is the worst it's ever been.
these might be the good days when you look back.
