Of the 20 people I know who got VSP/ERP, only one person is taking the ERP. I don't think BK is going to get a lot of people from it. Be ready for more ISPs soon.

I know of 4 people who were offered ERP and they are all taking it.
Having been with the company since 2000, I've been through several rounds of layoffs and have been offered VSP several times as well(along with many of my co-workers who are still there). Being offered VSP doesn't necessarily mean you have a target on your back.
I'm taking the ERP. Been waiting for a package for a little over a year now when I became eligible to retire. My day has finally come!
I know of 5 or 6 people who have taken the ERP. Those who have turned down either the ERP or VSP (or both) are those people who are either in denial or have put themselves in such precarious vinancial that they can't afford to say yes. Intel will get them next time.
Take the VSP and then go get new job somewhere is the smartest thing to do. For sure if you don't take VSP this time, the next time you will get the ISP. This is what I was told by the HR. "Things happened for a reason"...
I'm in NM and I know of quite a few people who are taking the ERP. The engineering/non-MT ranks will be hit quite hard. Some areas are losing more than half their exempts.
Employers pay unemployment insurance. The feds do put money in that pot too. Not sure what "-gqj" is getting at?
If the target is not met they will be targeting people who did not receive any VSP , ERP, ISP.
Intel (no company for that matter) "pays" unemployment, unemployment insurance is managed by the EDD and your state department. You file a claim with EDD, your previous employer gets notified and validates if you were termed voluntarily or involuntarily. If involuntarily, your claim is approved, if you voluntarily resign, you claim is denied. Your income taxes pay into the UI fund, and therefore when you receive UI, you are receiving money that you have put into the fund from your years of working and paying taxes. I'd be a bit concerned following advice from someone who doesn't understand how UI in the United States works...

The real message has been put out. Intel is trying to get as many people as possible to take VSP/ERP. There is a financial reason for this, Intel doesn't pay unemployment. If this VSP/ERP/ISP doesn't hit the 24000 by June 2nd, forced ISP will come. If you received a VSP/ERP Intel is sending you a clear message, leave. But I wouldn't leave if I were any of you. The VSP and ISP packages mirror each other which means Intel is trying to save money. ISP comes with unemployment, VSP doesn't. ERP is different in that your stocks still vest. I believe most VSP will wait it out and see if they become an ISP later. That would be the prudent thing to do.
