I don't think anyone is shocked about the fact that costs need to be cut. It's what the market is calling for and it makes sense. It's the fact that intel's corporate culture masks it's dishonesty through virtue. This entire ordeal was executed poorly, just like last year. Not only that but whomever is responsible for creating the packages seems incompetent. The ER and VSP packages should have been designed to influence people to actually want to take advantage of them and they aren't.
The packages are generous but that is overshadowed by the inhuman way this is being done.... First impune a persons skills by delivering SL4 message, then PERP WALK them out without so much as a goodbye to their co-workers or simple project handoff to the next sucker left holding the bag. This is not necessary and this is what is so horrific.
That's a superficial quippy cop-out: "Its business". Ethics, morality, professionalism? There's doing business, as a naive, a thief, a marauder. Then, there's doing business as a gentle man: who upholds honor, and respect.
Intel leadership is evil
It's not the fact that the cuts had to be done, it was the unjust, lying way in which they are being done.
I see most of the people are blaming Intel. Its business thats how things will be. In a way i say its correct decision. few % of good people also will be leaving like me :-) but no other way to get the growth path.
Its business friendly model. Either employer or employee can terminate the employment without advance notice. we are accepting and joining the company and blaming back :-)
