I've heard stories about Malaysians with over 20+ years in their belts getting a VSP from Intel, joining Alterra and later being acquired again.

You should at least try. No harm in applying. All they can sa is "no".
@aqx he/she gets ISP'ed again. There is no statute of limitations on ISPs.
Begs the question. What happens to an ISP'd employee who gets hired by a company that Intel later acquires?
in malaysia, i know some ppl that was let go by intel, and altera hired them

Supposedly you won't be hired but I know someone who was let go last ISP and is now working as a green badge. They somehow slipped through the cracks.
