Thread regarding Intel Corp. layoffs

I have been with classical broadcom for around 10 years, and I can tell you jobs

are moving to India for sure. There are some team in China but I see it shrinks like here in US,

they are mostly there to serve local customers (sustaining) and don't really own core

development. In last couple of years, I have seen PM, core hardware, core software,

critical projects all moved to India though and the development team grow to be 2~3 times larger than

US team and own most of promising project now.

I would not care if Indian team are doing a good job there and being effective, if they can do

same job with a lower cost, no complains here. But that's not what I heard from people

around here (including GM, mid-low level managers), I feel it's mostly driven by political reasons

other than what's good for company.

The mid/exec level managers in classic broadcom (especially those came from India) relentless and shamelessly push for outsourcing to India even though the team there are not experienced and often deliver sub-par quality work. My only conclusion is they are trying to benefit their own positions in company (more Indians more secure for themselves) and this might be just an Indian culture to hire

their own people whenever possible. An Indian face will certainly score you 50% higher when

you are interviewing with some manager with India origin. Some times I hope I can tan my

skin to improve my chance.

Chinese do hard work - hard work of doing repetitive tasks and not using any brain whatsoever. Whoever is talking about Indians hiring their own kind more than the Chinese must be really kidding themselves. Chinese have team meetings in Chinese even if there are outsiders in the team. Chinese have been most often been apprehended in US for stealing and selling proprietary information to Chinese companies and Chinese government. Chinese cannot do S/W and VLSI design tasks as well as Indians that is the sole reason Indians are replacing them in big numbers. China is not the only place on earth where companies are getting their revenues from China only accounts for 20% of revenues for Intel for example. Indian is the next future growth market everyone knows that if you want to make money you will have to sell in India. USA consumer revenues will be too small in comparison to China India in near future especially true for semiconductors. If Indians stink of curry Chinese stink of rotten meat from their mouths (sewer smell) with really dirty teeth, prefer curry smell any day no wonder more Chinese and Whites show up at Indian restaurants than vice versa . If Indians re so bad at their jobs why are companies from around the world shipping their jobs to India and making huge profits, China is a manufacturing hub which is good for them for a while not a hi tech design center and China is the real culprit which has taken the real blue collar jobs from Americans white collar jobs are not meant for everyone.

Just because Indians have darker skin (many are much better looking than Chinese not midgets) doesn't make them less capable( In fact its opposite). Yes India has its poverty its issues so does China and so does USA. India was also occupied for centuries by white skin people who took advantage of their white skin to loot and kill in the country which left the country really poor and now Indians are just legally taking jobs which were given to them by US companies and you guys have such a problem with that, lowlife scum! Also, the racist statements I see on this blog can certainly tell Indians are way more civilized in their demeanor than others. Now u may say Indians like to rape in fact the rapes in India are much less per capital than in the US China never releases their crime stats. So take your lies and propaganda and shove it elsewhere

Don't forget that China also the largest consumer of many products/services provided by Big companies like Intel/Apple?Google, they don't necessary stealing jobs from USA. But, USA is stupid enough couldn't keep up their own labor and supply chain at a lower manageable cost, so who to blame? Not to mention who bought the most debt from US and look at what contribution India does to help US, nothing than stealing IT jobs from the US market. Without China being the partner, USA is never going to be maintain its position today in the world and who lends them the money to have war, build their welfare, etc....who spends more in the state to help stimulate the economy, why GM can survived so quick from the bankruptcy, now you blame on China over India. "A successor finds solutions, a loser finds excuse"....before you blame on anyone else when you get laid off, think out of the box, otherwise you will not survive in any company/country/environment, that's why USA is called "Under Sea Ahhhh"....going down...but China won't last forever, it's a trend and competition decides who wins in the long run

US high tech co will have no future to compete with East Asian's ( including China) if most of the important positions are occupied by Indian inside the US companies. I understand that Indian come to US and try hard for a better life. But you need to obey the law here and to keep America great instead of destroying it. Otherwise, you next generations will live in a SH..ty place like India.

India wins by manipulation? china by hard work? what about good old white boys? white boys are sent by Intel HQ to Intel HK, Intel singapore, Intel Latin america with hefty pay packages and super good allowances like free housing etc and you know what they do? the fact is the indian middle class of the 1980s because of a solid family structure and emphasis on education produced a lot of hard working good engineers who worked their way up the corporate ladder by dint of hard work as well as our innate intelligence...

In time labor cost equilibrium would have slowed them down. However, currency manipulation makes it impossible to stop the inevitable.

India contributes Murthy to Intel.

China market alone contribute more than 50% of intel total revenue. China create jobs for intel in this sense.

There is only one reason -- they are really working hard. You cannot just blame the hard working people.

China is intel's largest PC market, contribute more than 50% of revenue of intel . China is a Larger market than US market . Without China intel will be dead. But how many percentage of Intel's employee are Chinese? Very small percentage!

while India is a very small market for intel, how many percentage of intel employee is Indian. How many intel design centers in India?

Suppose Intel won't hire cheaper workforce and won't reduce cost by moving production and R&D into cheaper GEO, what will quickly happen - it will completely loose competition to companies who did.

You can't really stop globalization and trade.

You do actually benefit from goods price reduction and existence of company that uses cheap workforce and therefore can hire you in USA paying twice as more to people compared to China/India.

Yes, your competitive advantage is decreasing year to year, but you can't really stop it.

India and China can easily build their own industry.

Only chance to invest into process and earn money and get benefits - to collaborate with them.

So find you niche, become a manager/investor/entrepreneur if you can, or compete with other engineers globally.

Latter means compete by both performance and salary.

I am an ex Intel employee. I know of a few things Intel does horribly wrong. One such is the hiring of non US Intel employees for US Intel jobs for non engineering, non tech, business operations, planning kind of jobs. Go around this group in Intel called MMBP and you will find many such people. I myself was a benefactor of Intel's largesse but I know that my job could have been done by a million odd people in America. The system is totally screwed up.

Now hear this - a newly minted VP named TP (figure out his name- he used to be acer's AM ), a proper white american male belongs to the "old white boy" network and he essentially did nothing good when he was AM for acer.. he now got a new super job in a new team... I dont know how this happens..

the last one - why are new VPs being minted by the tens and why did intel need to bring in a failed qualcomm guy paying him some15 odd million and layoff many? does intel believe that this new guy single handedly turn around the company? also we all know Diane Bryant rode on the coattails of Kirk Skaugen and inherited a superb DCG... why is he removed and she made exec VP? to show the world that intel honors female employees and be on the right side of political correctness?

Intel has to answer all of the above... -an ex-intel guy who was an intel insider for 12 years

I don't think you know about China. Don't blame to others when lay-off happens, the world is always in competition, no one can win forever.
