Thread regarding Intel Corp. layoffs

ISP or VSP for ERP

My manager was part of the head count reduction that is happening, and was given ERP. When asked , his manager said he took ERP. but he said he is not allowed to say if it was involuntary ERP or he was given an option to stay. I feel I have the right to know whether it was involuntary or not. is he really not allowed to disclose that information?

@bfm... I feel the same way. Intel was once a great company and I mourn for my loss (in part by warning those who will listen on this site). Anyone who is looking for a career where they can do great things and be treated with common dignity and respect needs to look outside of Intel. And aside from the lack of leadership Intel's future is very gloomy due to it's ongoing disruption by ARM.

Ask your manager. He could have been ISP, or ERP. Before you all say he couldn't be ERP, I know someone who chose ERP, was eligible for 8 week Sabbatical and is taking his 8 weeks. He left immediately but is ERP, not ISP. 8 weeks takes them to after the June 24 date

Ok so I 'heard' if you got ISP and also meet rule of 75 The package is 'involuntary early retirement' package. So I am guessing it was not voluntary if it was this week. The voluntary people have until Jine 2 to decide.

ah ok, that helps explain your perspective, you believe your manager didn't deserve ISP because he was actually a great manager, so if Intel is terming him involuntarily then you might possibly reconsider staying at a company that easily dismisses such great people? Totally noble point...the honest fact is, Intel has proven they don't value their ee's anymore :( sad to see, and sad to say...I once loved them so much, now I am so thankful I'm no longer there.

ERP has until May to decide. It was ISP.

it's confidential, you don't have the right to know, just as your peers and subordinates wouldn't have a right to know if you were termed.

If it was ISP, I would reassess my job here at intel. He was more of a mentor to me than a manager.
