I just got the axe. 15+ years, and yes they cooked up this performance rationale out of necessity to protect themselves, ... and yes there has been a lot of other questionable business done here. But at the end of the day I am wondering who is getting victimized the worst here?

As long as they make good with the separation pay, those of us that did get can go on and live somewhat normal lives.

So despite my own situation I'd like to take a moment to point out that those that we are leaving behind might be the ones that actually deserve the pity. They have to stand around watching the atrocities being committed here and go on living the nightmare on a daily basis, further re-assured that this is what they can expect as their own reward at some point.

My advice: Stay ahead of it AND BE THE DECISION MAKER. take CONTROL OF YOUR DESTINY.

I too am sooo glad to be out. I put in my 'time' and was paid very very well for it. However the rate of return for being there any longer was not present for many reasons and am now in a much better place to live and job situation.

Better off after being booted. Loved my 30+ years but beer to b booted. Feel bad for my mates still sitting in conference rooms arguing about stuff that just doesn't matter.

very true. I left Intel last year. . .and my perspective on work/life balance is far better for it. If you can do it, and you want out, nothing feels better than leaving on your own accord. It was hard to leave behind my team members .. but I've been a much better 'person' since leaving :).

Even though this is a tragic event for us, I believe we will ultimately be better off. The tough part will be redefining ourselves and finding that path. The people in tough shape are the ones that remain. Unfortunately, they are all numbered since we now know this is the new norm. I cannot even imagine going to work everyday knowing that your dedication is not appreciated. You are merely filling a space until you are booted and the next poor soul can take over. Sad that there is no longer any hope of a career in this compañy.

Excellent post OP. I left Intel 2 years ago and no matter what pay I was offered to go back I wouldn't do it. Life is short. It's not worth wasting on a business that is being disrupted as bad as Intel's is and worse management that gets more corrupt/evil with every passing year.

Thank you for this and it's so true!! My group was very short staffed and they took 2 more away from us but kept all the management. And guess who gets to absorb all that work? The poor saps here who were praying for VSP. Oh and nice of Inhell to let the people being let go have pass downs for their projects. Not only did our workload just triple but we have to start from scratch. FML

I appreciate the post. I feel sorry the people in my team. We were all ready short staffed before all this.
