With Fab17 closing officially there last year, there is nothing preventing Intel from relocating the Massachusetts site.

I work in Dupont which is closing. It was IMPLIED that if you want to relocate to Oregon you could. They just ask that you talk to your manager and let them know you will relocate. This is the party line. The reality, as told to me by 3 different managers (2 first level and one second level), is that when you tell your manager that you will relocate, you will be ranked as to your value to the company and the continuing projects. That information will be passed up the management chain. Then they will pick and choose their desired employees for relocation. Outwardly, it appears almost all can relocate, but the reality is it will be a much smaller percentage that will be offered relocation. Its sounds like they will move almost all of Dupont to Oregon, but in reality Oregon (JF5) doesn't have that kind of space. This is a headcount reduction first and site consolidation second.
Apparently they are hitting DCG hard on both coasts. Did you not hear that? Earlier posts talked about this.
