Plenty of girls to meet ??? Really ?

That's bull $hit son. Most of your time is spent on rigs, which are usually full of men.

As long as you don't live under a rock, in the middle of nowhere, like a reasonable sized city, then there will always be "girls to meet" regardless of your career choice.

Why would you need to take a field job in oil and gas such as mwd to meet girls? If anything that is counterintuitive and counterproductive, since your goal of meeting girls would be alot more challenging given that either 1/2 or 2/3's of your time is spent far away from civilization (like offshore, desert, jungle, frozen arctic, etc.).

sh--ty job, not a real career.

Whoever said West TX was beautiful must be on crack. West and South TX both look like wastelands straight out of a Mad Max movie. Hell, South TX can be just dangerous as the sh-- that goes on in Mad Max.

Alot of dudes get delusional about the job because of what they hear from others about all the money that can be made. Truth is there are guys working in the office that make comparable money without having to put up with all the BS of being an mwd on call.

The only positive thing I can say about mwd is that they do take inexperienced people and let them get that experience added to their resume. Basically a stepping stone for you to get to where you want to be.

Worst part is those that get stuck in the job and can't do anything else, because they fail to realize that it should be used as a stepping stone and nothing more. Then they end up doing it forever or get laid off and have to take some other sh--ty job elsewhere.

Not such a bad time to be an operator, with transformation they will be the people doing things on the rig while it is monitored remotely

I'm in MWD/LWD Technical School now. Comforting to know that I will have a secure position on one of the idle rigs. I hope they send me to West Texas. I've heard it's beautiful there.

They can't even pay for training. Might have to hire on as a secretary to get your foot in the door. Maybe in 2019 you could become an office manager then mwd in 2020!

100% secured on idle rigs. You can practice being a company man and DD too at the same time.
