Thread regarding Intel Corp. layoffs

The 4k quota of isp just effecting US then? All quiet here in uk

Very quiet here from HR etc in UK so I'm assuming that quota of 3.5k heads being cut for ISP leaked last week on that foil was just US and not including Europe? Cus I imagine there is more than 3.5k in US alone right who have SSL 4 and 5 and IR?

It's a mind game, guys. You will never hear an "all clear" signal so you'll always need to be on guard. Make sure you dust off and then update the old resume.

Malaysian site has EE of ~6000+ (down from 9000+ after many rounds of cutting in the past few years). Cutting 1300 from 6000+ will be almost close to 20%, more than the avg of 11% (corp) and 15% (some org annouced the cut is 15%)

1300 Malaysia? No way. We also don't even have 700 in Bellevue

no news in Malaysia - Penang and Kulim yet .... but we'll know our fate very soon starting next week ... if the number of 1300 is true, it'll be a massacre for those who get cut and a disaster for those who left behind to pick up the craps ...

If someone was evaluated "Successful" you can not claim later on that he is under-performing. And when you are making a few billions of dollars of profits, you can not claim economical difficulties. And when you got "public" money from states, countries, a bunch of taxes reductions to enable long term investments, you may have to give some of this money back if you are breaking the deal.

In Europe there are labor laws preventing ISP. You will get it some other legal way. Perhaps site closure? Just speculating but this will come to you sooner or later

Right, don't forget that these numbers do not include VSP's & ERP's. Oregon wide will see upwards of ~3,500-5,000 affected.

I heard it's basically illegal to fire someone or close a site in Europe. You guys might get lucky

Yes we are lucky: guess what, the countries with higher percentage of layoffs will be in Europe. Much higher than 11%
