Will they relocate anyone from DuPont to Oregon or just fire or "Layoff" everyone there ? They have a great group out of people in DuPont. it's really sad to hear about these layoffs. There are a lot of RCGS and a couple of interns that were just starting out their careers. I wonder what they will do. I started my career there and I was nothing but grateful to had been given the opportunity to do cool things but now I am glad I did not put my eggs in one basket.

Tip Chowdhry is the source, he CORRECTLY called VMWare layoffs, he predicted Citrix layoffs (all well documented on this site)... IBM, too. HP too...
Here is what he predicted back in January:
Global Equities Research’s Trip Chowdhry:
Cisco (CSCO): Total Employees 72,000: about 20% layoffs = about 14,000
EMC: Total Employees: 70,000: Between 15% to 20% layoffs = between 10,000 and 14,000
F5 Networks (FFIV):Total Employees: 4,500: about 10% layoffs = about 450
HP Enterprise (HPE): Total Employees 240,000: about 30% layoffs = about 72,000
HP Inc (HPQ): Total Employees 287,000: about 30% layoffs = about 86,000
IBM (IBM): Total Employees 379,000: about 25% layoffs = about 95,000
Juniper (JNPR): Total Employees 8,800: about 15% layoffs = about 1,300
Microsoft (MSFT): Total Employees 118,000: about 15% layoffs = about 18,000 (Microsoft is letting go about 200 to 250 people every week, and none of these are ever announced)
Network Appliance (NTAP): Total Employees: 12,800: about 15% layoffs= about 1,800
Oracle (ORCL): Total Employees 132,000: about 20% layoffs = about 26,000
Symantec (SYMC): Total Employees: 19,000: about 15% layoffs = about 2,800
VMWare: Total Employees:17,000: Between 10% and 15% layoffs = between 1,700 and 2,500
Yahoo (YHOO): Total Employees 12,500: about 30% layoffs = about 3,500
Yelp (YELP): Total Employees 3,671: about 30% layoffs = about 1,000
This analyst has an excellent track record of predicting layoffs.

I hear you. At least the are young and can recover in time.
It's going to be hard to find a job anywhere. Did you see the article on Apple potential layoffs? We are going into a recession real quick. 3 quarters is my guess.
I know but I guess I look at things on the more humane side. Some people had stay at home spouses and a mortgage and I'm not sure if you are familiar with the Olympia / DuPont / Lacey area it is hard to find a good paying job like Intel unless you move into Seattle but with 300 plus people looking for jobs in that area it might be hard to just find a job
Why feel bad for them. They can look for other jobs.
I Just think it sucks for these young kids. There are a couple RcG there on visas. Do they have to go back to their home countries. I mean some of these kids gave loans or are putting themselves through grad school because of a promise Intel made. Now they are closing the DuPont site. I feel horrible for these individuals. They are such amazing people / group in DuPont. I did not meet one bad engineer or intern or worker in DuPont whole I was there.
Found this leads me to believe they are not relocating anyone. It makes sense if they wish to cut 12K people why would they relocate anyone easy to slice off low hanging fruit.

It's best for the RCG's and interns to see this now rather than later. IMHO
They must of miscommunicated a lot of details to the employees.
Dupont is closing down per the mayor. My guess is the team will come in turn off the power and say everybody out now.
