Thread regarding Schlumberger Ltd. layoffs

RANKIN CAMPUS MASSIVE LAYOFF. 10% OF WORKFORCE AT RANKIN IS GONE

10% OF WORKFORCE AT RANKIN ARE OFF THE HOOK.LAYOFF BASED ON PAY SCALE AND NOT ON PERFORMANCE. SAD TO SEE GOOD PEOPLE GO AND THE CHIT CHATTERS LEFT BEHIND. WORST QUARTER FOR SLB IN IT'S HISTORY WITH Q2 AND Q3 EVEN WORSE. OIL PRICE RISE IS MANIPULATED TO KEEP PRICES STEADY. BUT IT'S LIKE CHINA'S FINANCIAL CRISIS, IT WILL FALL BELOW $25 SOON. FALL BEGINS IN JUNE 2016 ( SUMMER IN U.S.A) , WHEN IRAN STARTS TO BOOST IT'S PRODUCTION TO LEVELS NEVER SEEN BEFORE. OIL CRISIS TO LAST TILL END OF 2017. ALL PEOPLE, START LOOKING AT NEW JOBS, AS YOU ARE NEXT ON THE BULLS EYE. I AM NOT PESSIMISTIC, IT IS WHAT IT IS !

I can't wait till all these 150k-200k salaried SLB employees have to sell those BMW's, Rovers, and Audi's. Now that will be cool to watch.

After reading Paal's Q1 comments and 3 days into this week (2Q), SLB is scrambling to get expenses inline with revenue. Boy howdy, going to be a blood bath. If you make a 100k+, trying to look busy in front of your monitor, look up every time someone walks by - beware HR is watching you and your probably next. That time you kissed your bosses assor sucked him/her off - not going to help on this deal. Everyone is a target. By the 4Q, only ones left will be HR personnel. They'll have to run the company. HR will have to do a cement job, nozzle up a drill bit, invoice, janitorial work. Won't be anyone left. On the next boom, if you have a chance to get in HR, go for it. You'll get to keep you job. That is what my plan is........

It is much more efficient to outsource / contract work than to employ company personnel. I'm afraid we will many more of our friends going without the benefit of saying good bye. Oil business is cyclical and bad times hurt deeply.

Jobs are getting outsourced to 3rd world countries who work for $1 per hour with the same efficiency. How can oil industry afford to pay US workers $25 / hr ? LayoffS are obvious and outsourcing RULES OUR LAND NOW
