Management message if your making too much your out. If you strive to excel your out. If you want to make a change that can impact future business your out. All the maters no no won ever said SSL would impact your future and theirs no concrete documentation but its counted when focal arrives.
for those who don't believe search 1 yr from now and I'll see you on the un employment line @H6WtoTi-xuw
I don't work at Intel, but I used to - in HR.
I guarantee they looked at "time in grade" as a factor to who was going to get let go. Not to be unsympathetic, but in doing some of the math, there are quite a few people posting on this thread who have likely been in their grade level for a long time, hence the "successful" + lower level stock.
Successful, SSL5 first time...ISP
Don't forget that BK was the champion behind building the huge AT factory in Viet Nam, stating that Intel needed to have AT factories the size of FABs to reduce costs. Seems to me that after building the VT site, Intel discovered that it had too much capacity in AT and then closed down AT factories in Costa Rica (headcount getting too expensive) and Cavite, Philippines and one other site in Asia.
I hear you! I was a casualty of similar actions in 2015. Never had less than SL3 and then got hit with SL5 in 2015 while having weekly 1:1's with my manager (NEVER having any discussions about poor performance). Manager even denied that this was a problem when I asked the question point blank. So you can imagine when a mere 2 weeks later I was strongly encouraged to take VSP or face the wrath of ISP. 20 years at Intel, white and 51 yrs old and I didn't understand the true meaning of SL4 & SL5. Sure feels like an assault against older, white workers. Good luck, Intel with your whiny, diversity new hires.
H6WtoTi-xuw, Don't be such a douche.
Give me a break! Intel said LOUD AND CLEAR that SSL4 and below was BE/IR without the CAP - why are you all acting surprised.
You shouldn't have been so smug and should have sent out your resumes back then and gotten out a soon as you got your year end bonus.
Not to be so heartless but hopefully this SECOND WARNING will help those left to see the light and get out before it is too late for 2017.
Can Intel be sued even though people getting severance have to sign their rights away?
Grade 8, IT employee 52 with 27+ years of service. First year receiving SL4 stock ever. Only silver lining is I'll get the Enhanced Retirement Package but involuntarily walked out sometime this week. SMH!
Intel will provide you with a spreadsheet of the layoff details soon. It will show who was laid off by group, age, region, grade. Just like last year you will find overwhelmingly Intel just laid of older white people with 15+ years experience. Yet no one sees it as age discrimination.
Intel should be forced to disclose age distribution of those that were Successful but got SL4 or SL5
RCG. what ? u have NO SKILLS. just perfect for intel.
intel is going under big time.
Our department gave a lot of SL4/SL5 to older employees because stock vests over 4 years so why waste it if not around. give it to the younger folks. Didn't know it would end up costing people their jobs- this stinks.
Let's list the mistakes BK has made
-
Tag teamed with Renee to pitch a CEO team strategy to get the job. Kicked out Renee halfway through to execute on his own poor strategy.
-
Contra-Revenue to gain market share in quickly disappearing tablet market
-
Promoted LTD head to VP position while Broadwell was delayed under his watch. He shoul'dve been fired
-
Let Moore's law buckle and fail for the first time. publicly admitted that the 2 yr cadence is lost. Did little to fix it but instead acted like it no big deal on the earnings call.
-
Does nothing to improve work life-balance for fab folks, who are the heard and soul of Intel's business. This lead to low employee morale and loss of talent.
-
Continued fab engineer hiring from third tier universities. A PhD is all you need to get in. If moore's law is getting harder wouldn't you want smarter ppl to work on it?
-
Continued support of silly programs like TWWW.
-
Incompetent middle management. Some of those guys are really clueless. Always wonder how they got promoted. A lot of them moved op when everyone else moved out.
I can list a dozen more but you get my drift.
IT Guy with 35 yrs.. My brother, most likely I know you as only few of us are left on IT from back them . Thanks for everything, we love you, be safe , and stay strong... Your pain is my pain but is not worth it so let move one to the next chapter.. God bless..
Also AZFSM employee here. 16yrs with intel, never had lower than SSl3. This is my very 1st one and i'm out. My GL was not even ware of this impact when the focal was delivered to me. I did ask and was told it is ok, dont worry about it. Can someone please list out how many mistakes/bad decisions BK had made? Need to know if he should be fired also based on this criteria.
Grade 7 IT employee, 58 years old with 35 years of service, (rule of 93) Never received a SL4 until this year and I had the best year of my career.
I didn't get the ERP or VSP mail yesterday so Im waiting to be walked out. My H1B manager knows nothing. OWG's like me are not safe.
Who's gonna be around to clean up the mess? Some RCG? I don't think so. Will take them years to figure this out.
my heart goes with you guys!! please keep the good memories and the great people you met on the journey as I am sure we will never forget you guys.. It is not your lost but Intel lost at the end of the day as they are killing this once great company and their great and loyal employees...
White male, 16 years, never anything less than SL3 and I suddenly get SL4. Something smells fishy...
WetEtch
What area if you don't mind?
Looking at the trend, there is definitely grounds for class action law suit, giving SL4/SL5 for older employees.
heart goes out to you friend...
