If you have a wife (that is working so you have 2 incomes) and no children, you are more qualified for being fired than a single usually ...

Older people tend to be more protected also.

But any ways, there are usually different ways to work around the law or the spirit of the law...

It just takes more time

Yes. In some european countries it also depends on family status ( children, wife etc ). If you want to fire somebody, then first single, no children and so on.

I must say, that nobody I know will ever buy Intel product.

laws in Europe require substantial notification and ees have to be given an option to find work elsewhere...there are redundancy laws. It could take 3 - 6 months before they are able to begin reductions there.

No info on ACT hub about European sites. Good job Intel HR. When BK said this would be done quickly with as little pain as possible we should have known better what to expect.
