I was 20 year Air Force and they threw me out lIke yesterdays garbage after I worked my but off all night long. Vets should never be let go. I served my country and this was the thanks I got? My boss didn't li,e that I took my breaks or had the courage to stand up to his tyranny. I hope and pray they don't treat my brothers this way this year. Stay strong and know that there are other jobs out there that value you.

Protected classes are those in which all companies in the U.S. must adhere to government guideline wrt to hiring and termination practices under Title VII.
If you have veteran's status you get preferential treatment upon hiring, and you are a protected class during RIF actions (Reduction In Force) which means that you should not be getting termed. Caveat is if your manager has extensive documentation of performance issues which are not related to any medical condition. I'd highly encourage anyone with Veteran's status to file a complaint of discrimination with the EEOC if you are in fact impacted.

this is a troll, Veterans are a protected class at Intel and are removed from RIF actions during data analysis of impacted ees. If you are a veteran and this isn't a troll you have grounds to file a charge with the EEOC.

I'm a 20 year retired Army veteran, served in Desert Storm, OIF 2 (Iraq), and OEF (Afghanistan) as an Infantry soldier. My OIF and OEF tours were served during my time at Intel. I too was let go by Intel - by a manager that openly hates the military, is a liberal who openly hates America and those who served, and was walked out the door like I was a piece of trash. Intel isn't laying off people with performance issues, Intel is laying off people of age, grade, and salary. Intel doesn't respect veterans because diversity means foreigners (H-1B).
