High paid, stuck-in-job = "see ya later, and make room for the next recruits to come in."

Lowers the cost of doing business, younger kids will (have to) work 24/7, burn the candle endlessly, and pour all their sweat equity into critical initiatives.

Business is cold and bloody.... just the way it is, and the only way it can be. If you want safety and no challenge... go work for the government.

Many of these jobs don't actually exist. Resume farming is a constant process as the company will always be looking to opportunistically "upgrade". Or they are simply H1B "impossible to meet" and "tailored to the Indian with fake credentials" postings to meet/circumvent labor law.

As a result of such layoffs, companies like Intel, Broadcom, Qualcomm, Microsoft, etc should be prohibited from employing, or subcontracting, H1B's.

But they won't be, because until Santa Clara looks like Bangalore (complete with cows and beggars defecating in the street), Intel and their bought-and-paid-for politicians won't be satisfied.

many of these are now likely stale data positions and were in queue before news was passed from higher up.

Think of it like a sports team, they need to cut some players to free up cap space to get the the players they want.

Yes, it doesn't surprise me one bit, OP. I said as much last week in another thread. They will continue to hire needed positions.

What's funny is I was laid off last year and have been offered a job by Intel again....LOL. Not even 12 months, but I didn't sign anything saying I couldn't be rehired.

H1Bs are always welcome. Americans need not apply.
