Thread regarding Intel Corp. layoffs

M/A failure . Bad Managers . LOW morale . Bad judgement by VPs and CEO ( Lack visionary )

Intel has history of bad acquisitions ( major screw ups)

1) MACAFE

2) Infenion

Next altera. Wait for next three years . This will be proven correct

Bad managers

It doesn't matter if you have rock stars within Intel . If you don't promote them . Give them direction . These rock stars will jump ships or perform poorly . But these bad managers play politics , favoritism . Have deep nexus with HR. Self promote themselves .

Bad managers are typically not technically competent . They survive with politics and favoritism

Low morale :

no promotion . Every man for himself . No collaboration . Steal others work or findings . Politics . Favoritism . Very very bad way of focal process

NO VISION AT TGE TOP

Intel is screwed

So many missteps outside PC processors since 2000. First was the failed diversification in the 1999 – 2002 in communications boom.

Then Intel made a massive splash at CES in 2004 with a technology called LCOS for digital TVs, only to kill it later that year.

And of course Intel tried once and failed in mobile, selling off its XScale division to Marvell in 2007

My manger is a technological laggard ... A disgrace ... But she does play the games ...

From what I'm reading - I won't qualify for VSP and am probably not impacted, oddly - I feel disappointed not to be given the exit , as I think I'd walk into a job tomorrow... Albeit one lower salary but the severance would make that possible ...

The bigger question is, how many managers will get the boot during this layoff?

We know the Altera deal is a money pit. Everything intel touches turns to dust. Get out whilst you can

"Bad managers are typically not technically competent . They survive with politics and favoritism."

This to me is a major issue within Intel. Advancement and/or job security really has much less to do with your ability or performance and much more to do with who you suck up to and socialize with. Then they make decisions that impact the lives of much better employees.
