Thread regarding Intel Corp. layoffs

What is policy / law on employees taking copies of their performance reviews?

Howdy...

Performance review letters are marked Intel confidential.

But, should something happen, it might be handy to have copies of these largely boring and innocuous reading documents to provide a legal counterpoint to what somebody might try to frame as a "performance based action".

So... if I were to print out all my focal letters and keep them at a filing cabinet at home (or upload them to google drive or whatever), would that in itself get me in hot water with Intel? or, does labor law provide some protection that workers can maintain their own documentation of their employer's feedback?

My managers have always told me to make a copy for myself....

Don't think the confidential label means the the company owns the document. It is yours as well and I'd think you are entitled to your copy. Given the company history of dishonesty it's one of the best records of performance I wouldn't give a damn whether the company objects or not.

The way I see it is if they don't want you there, why stay? It would just make the situation awkward and unproductive for everyone. Just take the settlement package that they will give you and go. Trying to fight back in court is pretty futile.

good point anony.... I'd hate to let paranoia about something possible but likely drive me to give Intel a case for letting me go for mishandling confidential info....

but damn, I got an S / SSL4 back in 2012, and the focal feedback was so anodyne and gentle, you'd think it was no biggie at all "I expect TrackRecord to take on more leadership, and he did so in the second half, he should keep it up and keep growing in that area"

if other people are getting feedback like that, and it's being used to lay people off, I can see why they are pissed

They are confidential and provide details about specific programs.

So personally I would build a strategy based on the following points: the main information that can be used is your salary/wage increase per year, promotion data.

They are visible on your payroll and can be proven on request without leaking confidential data.
