Thread regarding Intel Corp. layoffs

Leaked information on next week's layoffs

Information has been leaked to Oregon live that VSP's will offered to everyone that did not get an outstanding or promotion in the last 3 years. This is to allow anyone who wants to leave to take a great VSP package and leave Intel and also be eligible to re hire in the future. I think you will have to wait 6 months before joining back though. Also eligible people will be getting automated emails regarding the VSP process at 6am Monday morning. As for ISP's managers and 2nd level managers will be notified on Monday and need to set 1:1's with people that will be getting ISP's HR will be present at all sites between Monday and Friday next week and will work with managers on giving out the ISP packages.

"Information has been leaked to Oregon live that VSP's will offered to everyone that did not get an outstanding or promotion in the last 3 years. "

This is completely non-sense , half of the Intel will come into this criteria - Full of non-sense ...

HR is setting up "transition offices" that will be in place Monday, so expect the ISP notifications to begin very early this week.

I think we should take OP's info with a large grain of salt. It doesn't match any other leaks as far as the VSP goes. His ISP info does though.

Do agree with @cbi, BK is in way over his head. He'd rather spread political correctness than run the company. Morale was already pretty low (but recovering from last year), this is going to flush it down the toilet.

Intel has been on a steady decline since Krzanich became CEO. For the past 3-4 years, layoffs have become the norm. They consistency change up the criteria. They've intimated the employees and has lost the meaning of a great place to work at. I have yet to meet a person from Intel that can whole heartedly say" I love my job ". Poor decisions from the top affects the individuals whom are there to competivity work, as they are told. Intel is very top heavy, too many bad decisions and too many managers whom should never be in a position to manage people. Intel needs leaders not micro managers. Krzanich has no clue on how to run a company.

I work in the Seattle office and we were notified the site is shutting down :(

I think most of the other sites are on the US east coast and europe. I did not hear anything about US manufacturing. And most of the Asia and Costa rica sites have already been consolidated in the last couple of years. They are safe.

Guys, what if this whole laying off is actually a late April fools prank ?

Intel has the best engineers and then ones taking the VSP will be easily accepted to competition companies

My understanding is that employees eligible for VSP will be notified Monday via e-mail. The managers of those eligible have already been notified of the monday communication.

Those for ISP will be notified on Friday. I'm not 100% sure...it could be earlier. But, several of my friends have 1:1s on friday. They had L4 stock in this last focal so the future is not bright.

By the way, does anyone trust this BK? From the people that i work around, no one seems to trust this guy at all.

DuPont server team has been offered relocation to Oregon or Santa Clara...Oregon will be hit most to make room for those people...hears that Columbia server team also was offered to relocate I doubt anyone will move to the west coast

VSP should be taken if offered as it looks like a jackpot. Apple and Qualcomm are hiring

Are you telling me 90% of the people will be offered VSP? I doubt so..Intel would have to be crazy to do that. They would do this a certain grade level or to a couple of business groups...likely to mostly people working in USA

@H4O5vzD-ues: That's the intention. Historically, VSP acceptance rate was very low, so they need a bigger net/looser criteria in order to hit the target.

My site is being shut down. A HR rep came to our site to explain the timeline and the various packages.

The OP's comments on ISP seem accurate-- ISP will be handed out through out next week and will be delivered by the direct manager in person. Also, VSP is eligible for rehire, although you may be asked to pay Intel back portion of your package if you return too soon.

We wren't told the exact criteria for VSP, except that your rating, SSL, and the length of time in your current grade are all taken into account. And all employees meeting the criteria will be notified through email on Monday.

If the OP is correct that would be more than a 11% cut, because anyone in their right mind would take the VSP. More like a 50% HC reduction.

I don't doubt VSP emails will be sent Monday morning . . . but, surely, the number of people who didn't receive an outstanding or promotion in the last three years is the vast majority of the company. The details don't seem right. But, what do I know?

The OP seems to be right.I spoke to a senior HR at Intel and he told us that vsp emails will be sent Monday morning right around opening bell.

THE post by OP has no reference and may not be real

... This is just to diffuse people..why will everyone be called? But the way this Intel works it may not be too surprising if they scare everyone with 1:1 schedules..each of them will have their breathing stopped .. Is this the proper way to treat employees?

@H4O5vzD-oyl The Oregon Live story isn't actually up yet. In all likelihood, the OP--if their post is true--is the person who leaked the information to the Oregonian. If information has indeed been leaked to the paper, it'll definitely be online tomorrow morning.

Can any one please post the link where the VSP criteria and severance package is listed? I see

http://www.oregonlive.com/silicon-forest/index.ssf/2016/04/intel_layoffs_heres_what_emplo.html

But it doesn't list the criteria for VSP

Don't take VSP then in 3 months they will lay you off without any package...anyone who qualifies I think should take it ... Many companies are currently hiring and are safer place to work

I think the OP is also the person who is the leaker. Oregonlive has not put up the info yet.

It's beginning to feel like these leaks are intentional and are designed to diffuse the anxiety. Can you imagine if everybody would hear the news on Monday morning. yeah, I think this is totally designed to be diffusing the tension a little bit

Is this a new leak, OP, or an old one? The Oregonian online isn't exactly the most robust site and searching gives me crap results.

yes, the FM site is impacted as are all other sites. If you meant "site closure"... you should be more specific with your question as it's not the same answer.

I would take that VSP in a heartbeat. I have SSL2/3/2 in the last 3 years. I am in the memory group. As that is an area of future investment, do you think they will offer VSP?

Oregon folks its a win win situation...take the VSP, sell your home with a huge profit, and go to any other state that have bwtttee companies better pay and cheaper homes
