Thread regarding Intel Corp. layoffs

Why are some site closures offered 100% relocation and some not? For ex DuPont 100% vs Columbia SC 25%

Interesting. They spend a lot of money working on the VSP when only a small portion take the offer. This is really ineffective management.

Project cancellation is big unknown. If they don't hit the numbers through relo/vsp/sip they will go through all the crappy projects in client to make it work. Why else would they wait 60 days to finish the job? Numbers will be hit just a matter of how to make it work

What percentage of people do you think impacted by ISP by site? Will they reach even 5%. I am seriously wondering how the heck they will get to the 12K as it seems only less than 5K will go through ISP. Leaving a significant number of VSP to see if they take the offer. Maybe they inflated the number for wall street purposes. Any other thoughts?

ISP impacts everyone across company. DP or SC or Hillsboro. Rational person could infer that ratio would be same across all sites. Given present circumstances that might different. Will never see the numbers but would like to know ISP rates across that's that aren't closed vs closed sites

Every site has to have different consideration and relocation package offers must be unique to those considerations. How many people are working DCG at Dupont?

Makes some sense if those people are critical to DCG they will pay the retention bonus not if they fall under ISP criteria. You believe no one on the 3rd and 4th floor didn't fall under ISP?

Everything on 3rd and 4th floors is all DCG relevant. Anything that's falls through will impact $$$ big time. I've heard they are paying retention bonuses to move people to Hillsboro

The 25% on Dupont makes sense. Usually there is always the HR implied story and the real story. The real story usually sends the 1st and 2nd level managers to do the dirty work. It's sick.

Thanks for that information on Dupont. I knew there is something fishy going on. The company is not that nice to look out for all these people.

The meeting at Dupont suggested that it would almost be 100% relocation. But ask the 1st and 2nd level managers, they were told different. If it was 100% why do you have to notify your manager that you would relocate, they would just send out the offers. Quietly the managers are to roll up who will relocate and their value to the company. Then the relocation offers will be extended to the desired people. The rumor I have been told by managers is that the Dupont relo number is the same 25% but they are worried they will lose too much talent so they are implying something else. Just my 2 cents worth based on conversations with 3 different managers.

The decisions are based on what the company decides is profitable. You have to think like an MBA and stockholder, not like an engineer. Get with the program.

I believe that Dupont is still subject to ISP and project cancelation. That is what I have heard. Anyone know differently?

Please note that it is less than 25% relo for site closure. If the project is cut, I guess nobody will be relocated.

Not sure it's ALWAYS the cost. Probably a good chunk of the time though. Good point.

It's the cost! Look at money when you don't understand why.

Who knows why. I'm sure they have their reasons that they don't have to share with us. But like my mother use to tell me a LOT when I was a child and questioning why things were.... "Because I said so". Reason enough for me! lol
